The Head of Performance is a pivotal role within the team, responsible for optimizing on-track performance by overseeing data-driven strategies, vehicle setup, and driver feedback.
You will work closely with engineers, mechanics, and drivers to extract the maximum performance potential from our cars and team operations.
This position combines technical expertise, strategic thinking, and exceptional leadership to drive success on race weekends and beyond.
Role: Head of Performance Salary: £60k to £80k Industry: Global Motorsport Location: England Key Responsibilities: Lead the performance engineering team, ensuring efficient collaboration between race engineers, data analysts, and simulation specialists.
Analyse telemetry, simulation, and driver feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement actionable solutions.
Develop and oversee vehicle setup strategies to optimize performance under varying track conditions.
Work directly with drivers to provide clear and actionable feedback to enhance their performance.
Collaborate with the technical director and other departments to align performance goals with overall team objectives.
Lead pre-event preparation, including simulations, strategy meetings, and setup validation.
Monitor and adapt strategies in real-time during race events to respond to changing conditions and competition.
Ensure compliance with technical regulations and maintain an in-depth understanding of competitor performance trends.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the performance engineering team.
What We're Looking For: Extensive experience in motorsport performance engineering, preferably in a leadership capacity.
Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, and powertrain systems.
Proven track record of using data analysis and simulation tools to drive performance improvements (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, ATLAS, Pi Toolbox).
Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
Strong communication and leadership abilities to effectively guide a multidisciplinary team.
Flexibility to travel extensively and work irregular hours, including weekends during race events.
