About the Company This dynamic payment service provider (PSP) is committed to developing innovative, seamless payment solutions that foster global market inclusion.
They are currently searching for a Head of Merchant & Commercial Risk to lead risk management strategy and oversee the onboarding of large enterprise merchants on a global scale, with a key focus on emerging markets.
Position Details Location : Fully Remote Salary : Base salary of £150,000 - £175,000 + up to 40% bonus potential Role Overview As Head of Merchant & Commercial Risk, you'll be at the forefront of the risk management strategies for enterprise merchant onboarding and underwriting.
In this pivotal role, you'll collaborate closely with commercial, sales, and legal teams to assess and mitigate risks tied to enterprise clients, with a key focus on emerging markets.
Key Responsibilities Risk Oversight : Manage the commercial risk process for onboarding enterprise merchants, ensuring robust frameworks are in place.
Contract Evaluation : Work with sales and legal teams to assess and negotiate contracts that meet regulatory standards.
Data Privacy & Protection : Ensure compliance with data privacy policies and industry best practices in safeguarding sensitive information.
Legal Collaboration : Advise the legal team on risk issues, offering insights on underwriting practices and contract obligations.
Market & Regulatory Analysis : Track market trends and regulatory shifts to adapt and enhance risk management strategies.
Stakeholder Engagement : Build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration.
Team Leadership : Lead and mentor a team of risk professionals, guiding them to consistently deliver high performance.
Attributes & Qualifications 10+ years experience in high-level merchant risk management and onboarding, preferably in high-volume transaction settings.
3+ years in a senior leadership role, with demonstrated success in team development and mentorship.
Proven experience in risk management, underwriting, or related fields, ideally within fintech or payments.
Strong expertise in commercial and credit risk and underwriting practices, especially within emerging markets.
Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to communicate complex risk concepts to non-technical audiences.
In-depth knowledge of legal frameworks and compliance requirements for merchant onboarding.
Ability to work across time zones and cultures, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
Experience in leading teams and managing projects in a fast-paced environment.
