YMBBT has an exciting opportunity to come on board as their Head of Lighting and AV for their much-anticipated new show coming in Winter 2024.
Head of Lighting and AV is a freelance, senior position, and you will be a full-time member of our production team.
We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to join our team.
This individual should be multi-skilled with a broad knowledge of Technical Theatre Production, i.e., Audio, Video & Lighting.
The role will be ideal for someone looking for impactful experience within live events.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in assisting with kit prep, design, installation, maintenance, operation and testing, show night timed operation and get out.
Although a senior position, this member of staff will be supported by members of the creative and technical teams.
Specialist technical training will be provided also.
WHAT YOU WILL DOMaintain all Lighting and AV equipment as instructed by the creative team, aligning with artistic requirements.Manage the lighting department, a team of volunteers, including scheduling staff and liaising with training.Adhere to health and safety guidelines and maintain a well-organised, clean and tidy technical space.Able to work in high-pressure situations, to fixed deadlines.Manage the Lighting and AV systems during all stages of YMBBT including the build installation, operation and testing, show nights and the get out.
This will involve manual handling of kit, truss, set and staging.Collaborate and communicate effectively with other departments (Creative Directors, Producers, off-site specialists, equipment donors, and Stage Managers).Operate and maintain lighting and AV equipment as specified by the creative team.Carry out daily safety checks on all equipment and systems in use, keeping a log and actioning repair or maintenance activities where required, keeping the head of technical informed where action is required.Monitoring and recording of any mandatory equipment inspection/testing regimes such as LOLER or PAT, ensuring equipment safety compliance is adhered to, at all times.Interpret lighting and AV designers' plans.Order required equipment from design plans and maintain an audit trail of equipment used on site and its location.Build relationships with the headline Lighting and AV suppliers, Christie Lites and 80six, for delivery and ongoing support of the show systems.Adhere to YMBBT Ltd's Volunteer Agreement, NDA, Acceptable Use Policy and Code of Conduct.YOU WILL BRINGPrevious experience of Lighting and AV installation and show running, preferably in a large scale theatrical production.Knowledge and awareness of current H&S Legislation and industry best practice.Experience in leading a team.CONTRACT TERM: ASAP to February/March 2025
