Head of Legal and Company Secretary - Automotive Industry Location: London/home counties (with travel as required) Experience Level: Qualified Solicitor, 10+ years PQE Client: My client is a dynamic and innovative financial services provider, powering the automotive industry with tailored solutions.
About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Head of Legal to lead and oversee all legal matters.
As a key advisor to the management team, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, managing legal risks, and supporting strategic initiatives across the organization.
You'll act as Company Secretary , manage disputes and investigations, provide approvals on transactions, and contribute to the development of innovative products and services.
This position also involves close collaboration with our shareholders to ensure alignment with group-wide legal risk management frameworks.
Therefore Exco experience would be welcomed!
My client is seeking an experienced lawyer who has previous exco experience, and the ability to digest financial regulations and consumer credit whilst supporting key corporate and commercial activities.
Whilst having experience in the automotive industry would be a bonus, my client welcomes applications from experienced lawyers with relevant experience in other industries.
Key Responsibilities: Advise management on the implications of current and emerging laws, regulations, and case law.
Draft and review partnership agreements, manage corporate governance and ensure compliance.
Oversee disputes, litigation, and regulatory investigations.
Lead pan-European legal initiatives and contribute to industry-wide trade associations.
Implement and enhance legal risk management frameworks and controls.
Manage the Legal team, ensuring their growth and professional development.
Contribute to various committees, including the Executive Committee and Risk Committee.
Define, review, and improve legal policies and procedures.
About You: Qualifications: Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 10 years PQE.
Expertise: Strong understanding of UK financial services laws, consumer credit, corporate transactions, and governance.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, manage change, and drive functional excellence.
Skills: Analytical, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.
Attributes: Resilient, adaptable, and an effective communicator at all levels.
