The role of Head of Indirect Tax is important to us. The Tax Team is a growing, centralised function within the Finance department which is responsible for managing all direct and indirect taxes across the Group to ensure compliance with local regulations in each country that the Group operates in.
We are seeking a tax professional to support the Director of Tax in a specialist role working across a range of indirect tax compliance and advisory work.
Your responsibilities day to day will be… Lead, support and advise the tax compliance team on indirect tax treatment of new transactions. Subject matter expert on indirect tax matters – resolve queries from finance and business. Ensure accuracy of the product matrix – ensure all sales are assigned correct VAT codes. Ensuring technical accuracy of worldwide indirect tax filings, including those completed by the outsource provider. Lead, identify and implement VAT changes, process and technology improvements with the VAT Project Manager and compliance team. Identify indirect tax changes impacting our business, advising and supporting on all necessary business changes as a consequence. Lead regular indirect tax training to the team and wider functions. Other responsibilities include: Lead all indirect tax enquiries from tax authorities. Provide insight into indirect taxes across the group and drive opportunities to improve cash/value. Assist the Director of Tax in project work as required. Typical projects could involve determining the correct VAT treatment of restructures, new product and service lines. Support on M&A activity from an indirect perspective, including due diligence, structuring, and transitioning new business acquisitions. Experience / qualifications required: Technically strong and ATT/CTA qualified, with at least 5 years of indirect tax experience. Experience of preparing indirect tax returns either in practice or another in-house role. Exposure to VAT/GST systems outside of the UK would be an advantage. Strong excel skills and system knowledge. Ability to build a strong rapport with members of the Finance Team and the wider business teams. Problem solving skills and an excellent attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to work under pressure and effectively prioritise to achieve strict deadlines and targets. Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Thrives on challenge and accountability. Influencing skills to deliver results from colleagues. What can you expect of us?
