We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Healthcare to join the team at HMP Wakefield, a Category A prison located in West Yorkshire.

This is a unique opportunity to manage the healthcare department by leading on, and maintaining the service as agreed with NHS England.
You will become part of the senior leadership team within the prison, ensuring that the healthcare division is fully embedded within the prison.

Salary: This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary up to £62,000 per annum - depending on experience, plus car allowance and bonus.

Main duties of the job As our new Head of Healthcare, your responsibilities will vary.
Some of your duties will include:

Provide management of the healthcare services on site, with overall responsibility for delivering a highly functional clinical service, within agreed budgets Maintain the strategic direction of the service, and deliver on agreed contractual requirements and targets from NHS England Lead, develop and motivate your team to deliver the best service possible Work closely with senior management within the prison, as well as the finance business partner and regional manager Oversee all clinical pathways - primary care, mental health and substance misuse If you are interested in career development, we have a wide range of opportunities for you to develop your skills and experience, which include both internal and external options for development and learning.

Person Specification Experience within a senior / leadership role, with extensive people management skills Experience of working in a healthcare setting and working within governance frameworks, effectively managing teams and HR processes Confident in managing complex stakeholder relationships Experience in managing multifaceted budgets An understanding of clinical governance A professional registration would be an advantage Secure environments are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work.
