The Head of Financial Reporting is responsible for delivering accurate, timely financial reporting within IMS, ensuring the business meets its statutory filing obligations and maintains strong financial controls. This position leads key accounting judgments and estimates, while providing technical guidance to the Finance Department.
Specific Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesTeam ManagementManage and develop a team of Management Accountants.Own and drive the month-end and annual financial timetables.Develop a strategic plan for the department in collaboration with the Head of Financial Operations, Head of FP&A and CFO.Deliver the monthly Group consolidated P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow to audit standard on a timely basis.Act as the technical Group champion, communicating the latest accounting releases to the team and ensuring their implementation.Maintain good control of the balance sheet, ensuring timely completion of reconciliations (accruals, prepayments, stock, payroll, etc.) across all companies.Ensure all reconciling items are identified, investigated, and resolved in a timely manner.Prepare the group consolidation.Reconcile management information (MI) with statutory financial reporting.Lead acquisition/disposal accounting as applicable.Statutory and LegalDeliver statutory accounts and filings for all entities.Organize and oversee audits.Manage external advisors to ensure all UK, US and Canadian tax filings and ensure appropriate tax policies (direct and indirect).Handle the R&D tax claim and provide necessary information to advisors.Systems, Processes, and ControlsServe as the Finance system administrator.Develop and ensure compliance with appropriate controls.Refine the management accounts process to streamline and add value.Develop automated reports to support financial controls and provide required management information (MI).Key Internal and External RelationshipsSenior Finance ManagersSupply Chain and other department managersExternal auditors, tax professionals, HMRCOutsourced providers, including overseas accountants and payroll providersKnowledge, Skills & ExperienceQualified accountant with relevant post-qualification experience.Excellent accounting knowledge of UK GAAP.Strong knowledge of controls best practices and audit standards.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational skills.Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Ability to build and maintain positive internal and external relationships.Audit background preferred.Experience in people management.Experience with change management.Experience implementing new ERP systems.Even if you do not meet all of the above criteria, please consider applying!
