Chambers is looking to appoint a new Head of Finance and Operations to collaborate closely with the Senior Clerk to provide full business and administrative support to all members and staff.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
ResponsibilitiesFinance:Chambers' Accounts using Quick BooksMonthly invoicing for rent and feesManaging direct debit collectionCashflow managementPreparing budget for approvalMonthly bank reconciliationMarketing:Organising annual seminar and evening party for over 600 solicitorsArranging internal receptions & parties in conjunction with the PR CommitteeAdministration:Monitoring of holiday and sickness recordsImplementing and reviewing best price policy for suppliesEnsuring facilities are safe and compliantLibrary:Ordering yearly publications FCP, @aGlance, @eglance, Capitalise, FRP etcPupillage:Assisting with mini pupil and pupillage applications and all correspondence thereonFacilities:Health and safety officer, ensuring complianceOverall maintenance of the building, external and internalMaintenance of Chambers' telephone and entry fob systemConsulting with the landlord regarding fire regulations and negotiating with utility suppliersI.T:Consulting with contracted I.T.
SupportCompliance:GDPR, Cyber Security and Bar Council regulations and updatesGeneral Admin Duties:Maintaining self-accreditation with the regulator, the BSB (Bar Standards Board)Bar Mutual Indemnity Insurance and Practising CertificatesManaging Data Protection registrationCreating agendas and attending all committee meetingsChambers InsuranceWe are looking for an energetic and commercial candidate to fulfil the above role by reference to previous professional experience and where relevant, professional qualifications.
This is a long-term role.
The previous Head of Finance and Operations was with the firm for circa 15 years.
This is a varied and vibrant role.
The successful candidate will mainly be working alongside the Senior Clerk but will also work closely with the clerking team and with barristers on various aspects of the role as set out above.
Strong interpersonal skills, a great work ethic, and the ability to work as part of a team are therefore important.
