Your responsibilities Lead, coach and develop the commercial finance team and the data analysts.Plan and implement our 3 year planning cycle, alongside the Exec team engaging key stakeholders across the business.Lead our annual budgeting and forecasting cycle.Develop our existing reporting to become clear and insightful in order to enhance our growth, including: monthly management accounts, monthly KPI Dashboard, weekly data reports and insights across the business, board presentations.Understand the drivers of our performance and lead cross functional projects to set realistic goals and ways to improve to enhance our performance - for example, driving user engagement.Lead and implement a business partnering model across the business, gaining key insights as to what drives performance and using these insights to drive initiatives that mitigate risks and improve performance.Have oversight of financial and non-financial reporting and analysis processes, and the software used for this, to ensure they are fit for purpose with a view to standardise, simplify and automate where possible.Own business-wide risks and opportunities framework and lead the process for actions required in relation to R&O.Lead by and model the behaviours that underpin our organisational culture and connect with our purpose.Key stakeholders Reporting to the Director of Finance and Performance, you'll be a key member of our Extended Leadership Team (ELT). You'll need to rapidly build relationships with your ELT colleagues to collaborate on and deliver the initiatives and actions your data analysis and insights identify. The ELT, and your peer to peer support, includes representatives from Sales, Marketing, Research, Coaching, Customer Support, People and Product Development. You'll need to bring clarity to your insights and ensure the ELT are engaged around your proposals in order to succeed. The Exec Team will be there to coach and enable you and challenge your thinking.
What you'll bring to Brain in Hand CIMA or ACA Qualified Accountant with 5+ years post qualification experience.Excellent leadership and team management skills, able to inspire and motivate teams to drive high performance.Exceptional presentation skills.Exceptional people skills; able to lead and coach others, work with and challenge key stakeholders to optimise performance.Business Partnering experience, enabling non-financial managers and leaders to engage with the business' performance.Proven experience in analytics with understanding and use of available software.Knowledge of accounting software (we use Xero).An appreciation of our users' needs and the challenges they may face in society.What success looks like in this role Performance Insights drives improved decisions: Your facilitation of our monthly Performance insights meetings for Exec and ELT leads to consistent and appropriate use of insights and improved and shared understanding of our data.Annual Budget process enhances Strategy: Your leadership of budget and reforecasting cycles leads to better strategic thinking, planning and more accurate budgets that ensure alignment and buy-in across teams.Lead an optimisation project: Identify and lead a cross-functional project that optimises performance – e.g. cost of sales drivers – that improves efficiency whilst continuing to meet the high levels of coaching standards demanded.Positive 360 feedback: Working effectively in cross-functional virtual teams with positive 360 feedback from peers and direct teams, which cites demonstrable evidence of behaviours that support our values.What you can expect A well-being day every 2nd Friday focussed on you, for you, to do what you need to support your well-being.A values driven, supportive and collaborative team culture.Opportunity to shape the future of Brain in Hand through regular colleague consultation and feedback.A competitive salary and pension.33 days leave annually (incl. bank holidays).Support for professional and personal development.Involvement in various internal groups and events like 'Brew Mondays' and our employee support groups.Where you'll work We trust our teams to work remotely, from anywhere in the UK. That said, the Finance and Performance Team meet weekly in Exeter to collaborate and support one another so you'll need to be willing to do the same. There might be times when you'll need to travel to other UK locations for meetings or events but these will be planned ahead of time.
