Head of Chemistry 1.0 – MPS/UPS + TLR 2a Required January 25 1.0 FTE Permanent The successful candidate would be joining a dedicated team of specialists who are supported by a qualified science technician. Science at Burton Borough is a well-resourced department with a suite of science laboratories. Investment has recently been made into the curriculum offer and the creation of the role of head of chemistry (TLR 2a) is a further step in the school's commitment to ensuring our young people receive the highest quality learning in science.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful applicants will need to undertake a DBS enhanced clearance for the school.

Has a real enthusiasm for and a commitment to teaching science.Has a clear vision for an excellent chemistry curriculum intent and implementation.Excellent chemistry and wider science knowledge.Knowledge of the latest research on science teaching.Knowledge of GCSE specifications and exam requirements.Has a solid understanding of the principles of assessment and how this can be used to further enhance the curriculum and teaching.The ability to inspire and lead staff, offering training and support as required.Can deliver engaging and challenging lessons that promote students' scientific curiosity.Makes working scientifically an integral part of the curriculum.Values the contributions of all students and adapts their learning accordingly.Creates a positive learning environment for all.Contributes to the leadership of the science team, taking an active part of writing and actioning the department development plan.We offer:
