Job summary Westover Surgery is looking to employ a positive and confident HCA tojoin our friendly nursing team.
The service is operated over two GP sites in Falmouthwith a committed, dedicated team of clinicians and non-clinicians.
Thismulti-disciplinary team has been created to meet the changing patient demandson the NHS over the last few years.The successful candidate will work alongside the rest of the nursingteam and under the supervision of the practice nurses to provide treatment,preventative care, health promotion and patient education to our diversepatient group.
Any necessary training will be provided to ensure each job rolecan be performed safely and efficiently.The post-holder will be required to have MMR and Hepatitis Bvaccinations.We are seeking to appoint someone for 16 hours per week, ideally on aMonday, Tuesday/Thursday and Friday.
Salary is dependent on experience andthere is an opportunity to join the NHS pension scheme.
Main duties of the job The main duties of the role will include:New patient health checksUrine testing/analysisBlood pressure measurement/monitoringECGHeight and weight measurementRemoval of suturesTake pathology samples from patients for analysis (blood, sputum,urine etc)Wound care and dressingsImmunisations, including influenza, pneumovax and vitamin B12 under aPSDSupporting the practice nurses with the management of chronic diseasemonitoringChaperoning and assisting GPs with coil fitting.Support in the delivery of the Covid vaccination programme About us Westover is avery supportive teamconsisting of 6 GPs, 3 Practice Nurses, 1 HCA, a paramedic and first contact practitioners,pharmacists and administrative staff.
The Successful candidate will workalongside our team to deliver care to patients accessing primary care.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Qualified to NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) Qualified in Phlebotomy Ability to provide quality care Skills in Phlebotomy, ECGs, Patient Health Checks, Blood Pressures Good interpersonal and communication skills Good organisational skills Good team working skills Effective time management skills Ability to work independently following verbal or written instructions Adaptable to change Computer literate Desirable Experience in Wound Care and Removal of sutures & staples Compression and Doppler therapy Health and safety awareness Awareness of Blood Borne Viruses Experience Essential Experience within a healthcare setting Desirable Experience in a GP Practice Other Qualities Essential An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality Able to work on own initiative Able to work under pressure and remain calm Flexible and adaptable Aware of own limitations Keen to develop
