Job summary Pathology at Wigan and Salford are currently seeking an experience Senior Biomedical Scientist to provide a high quality, responsive service for patient within the Salford and Wigan areas which include: Salford Royal Hospital, M6 8HDRoyal Albert Edward Infirmary, WN1 2NN Do you have the skills and experience to perform and supervise a range of diagnostics tests, as well as contribute to the development and implementation of new methods?
If yes, then you might be the right person for the Biomedical Scientist role in the Haematology and Blood Transfusion department.
The department is in the process of implementing a state of the art laboratory information management system and is currently also implementing state of the art analysers within the department.Would you like to be part of a highly qualified team providing support for patients working in an integrated hospital and community service?
If so, we would like to hear from you today!The successful candidate will be a well-motivated team member who is able to prioritise and work on their own initiative with minimal supervision.
The candidate must be able to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills, a flexible approach and be capable of working accurately and efficiently under pressure.
Main duties of the job To manage and co-ordinate the day to day activities of a discrete section of the laboratoryTo participate fully in all technical work activities of the department by processing biomedical specimens requiring advanced and specialist technical knowledge.Analyses and interprets results; responsible for standard and quality of resultTake the lead in maintaining the Audit Scheduled for both Haematology and Blood Transfusion at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary and Wrightington Hospital About us The Diagnostics and Pharmacy Group is part of the Northern Care Alliance (NCA), one of the largest NHS organisations in the country.

IBMS Accredited MSC (Master) or Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Desirable Quality Management Qualification Evidence of recent Continuing Professional Development IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma in Haematology or Transfusion Science Knowledge, Training, Experience Essential At least 5 years' experience as a Biomedical Scientist.
Experience in training and/or Quality Management.
Experience of working effectively in a team Familiarity with ISO 15189 standards Desirable Supervisory Experience.
Skills and Abilities Essential Ability to work under demanding circumstances and to deadlines.
Knowledge of confidentiality issues.
Good verbal communication Good organisational skills Basic understanding of computers and their applications Desirable Ability to formulate and follow protocols accurately.
