We are seeking a Group Management Accountant to join our team at the Port of Liverpool and help us keep the world moving!
Your role The role reports into the Group Management Accounts Team Manager as one of a team of nine talented management accountants, each of whom have specific port divisions they primarily support.
In this role you will work very closely with one of our larger port divisions, with a high level of responsibility for, and ownership of, the preparation of monthly management accounts; this includes analysis of data, preparation and posting of journals in SAP and quality review of reporting information, working directly with divisional and other colleagues to help deliver good quality management reporting within the timetable.
You will also undertake financial analysis to support/drive the commercial objectives of the business as well as supporting divisional departmental managers in preparing and managing their financial budgets and forecasts.
In addition, you will help improve and develop the quality and efficiency of financial/management information required throughout the business, providing training and support to the business to ensure we get the most out of the information available.
You will also support operational teams in producing periodic financial reports and associated financial analyses, exceptions reporting, reporting trends and key performance indicators.
What you'll bring You will be CIMA-qualified with relevant and transferable management accounting experience, preferably from working in a large organisation.
You will have a proactive approach to managing responsibilities and a willingness to problem solve/demonstrate initiative.
With excellent communication skills, you will show the ability to communicate at all levels of the business and communicate financial matters clearly and confidently to different stakeholders.
You will have a demonstrable ability to develop constructive working relationships, especially with senior and other colleagues you are supporting directly with management reporting as well as other members of finance / central teams.
Able to multi-task and prioritise workload effectively to meet agreed deadlines and reporting timetables, you will also have a willingness and desire to learn and develop skills and knowledge.
You will have strong IT skills, especially Excel; previous experience with SAP, or other ERP systems, would be advantageous, though this is not essential.
