About the Role Reporting to the Group Health & Safety Manager, you will be part of a team of safety professionals tasked with supporting the day-to-day running of extremely busy and dynamic environments.
You will be responsible for championing, promoting, maintaining and establishing health and safety awareness and best practice across the Group sites, together with promoting a positive safety culture and employee engagement.
Within this role you will look after the following responsibilities: Assisting the Group H&S Manager in the development of H&S strategies and actions plans.
Leading the Health & Safety Committees at site level and work in partnership with other committees/employee representatives and staff as required Assisting in the development and implementation of health and safety management standards as required.
Leading the introduction of Group health & safety procedures at site level.
Maintaining accident databases and ensuring all accidents are thoroughly investigated in timely manner and the on-line incident system is updated.
Identifying actions to prevent recurrence.
Comprehensive completion of all supporting documentation.
Acting in an advisory capacity regarding health and safety issues.
Maintaining adequate records issues to comply with legal requirements.
Conducting audits across the site to identify gaps in procedures and to ensure that the company is meeting all H&S legislative requirements.
Devising internal audit schedule and carry out internal compliance audits of systems and processes.
Liaising with other business leaders and relevant partners on the introduction and management of safety standards at the sites.
Supporting the completion of site inductions, organising statutory training, maintaining up to date training records and training matrix ensuring refresher training is carried out in timely manner.
Support and auditing of the H&S elements of the Group Learning Management System.
Assisting with the identification of safety training needs for the company and organise/ facilitate and delivery of training.
Carrying out daily compliance monitoring, identifying potential hazards and appropriate corrective actions.
Supporting site management with the overseeing of contractors, auditing the contractor systems for compliance and supporting the review of risk assessment, method statements and Permit to Work at relevant times as required.
Providing relevant training to management and staff on safety issues.
About You This opportunity calls for a Health and Safety professional with first rate communication skills who will be a hands-on, results-oriented and who can demonstrate their skills, energy and ability to multitask effectively.
The successful candidate should therefore be degree-qualified in Environmental Health, Science or Health and Safety, or will hold the NEBOSH diploma in Health & Safety, and will possess at least three years experience in a similar role.
The successful candidate will also have experience of working to management standards and will have experience of working within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Experience of health and safety in the transport and distribution industry would be desirable.
We are looking for candidates who can bring credibility, knowledge and skill to the role, and who are flexible and positive in their approach to work.
The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, will be comfortable working both independently and within a team, and in leading group projects.
The successful candidate will also have accomplished IT skills in Word and Excel and will be flexible to travel to any of our sites.
It is also a requirement that they possess a valid driving licence with access to their own transport.
The position will require the successful applicant to work across our sites and Dale Farm Head Office, Belfast.
Therefore, travel throughout all the sites will be a requirement of the role.
