Northampton £33,000 - £35,000 About the Role A premier campus in Northampton is seeking a skilled Grounds & Landscaping Supervisor to maintain and enhance its extensive indoor and outdoor landscaping.
This is a hands-on role requiring supervision of both internal grounds staff and an external landscaping contractor.
The Supervisor will oversee all landscaping activities, ensuring a high standard of upkeep, safety, and environmental responsibility.
Key Responsibilities Team Management : Oversee and coordinate daily activities of internal and external grounds teams to ensure all landscaping meets quality and schedule standards.
Scheduling & Task Tracking : Organise and update work schedules, track tasks from initiation to completion, and log issues for prompt resolution.
Task Allocation & Prioritisation : Assign tasks to maximise productivity and maintain team performance, offering support as needed.
Project Execution : Identify areas for improvement, lead landscaping upgrade projects, and introduce innovative solutions to enhance campus aesthetics.
Weather Response : Provide out-of-hours support as needed for weather-related duties, including winter gritting and storm damage mitigation, to maintain site safety and continuity.
Environmental Compliance : Support environmental initiatives and ensure all activities comply with campus policies to minimise ecological impact.
Effective Communication : Foster clear and proactive communication at all levels to ensure expectations are exceeded and issues are managed to resolution.
Health & Safety Compliance : Maintain strict adherence to health and safety regulations and ensure all relevant records are up to date.
Skills & Experience Required Horticulture Experience : Demonstrable experience in grounds maintenance or horticulture.
Certification : NVQ Level 2-3 in Amenity Horticulture or equivalent (preferred), and PA1 and PA6 spray certifications (required).
IT & Communication Skills : Basic IT proficiency and strong communication skills to lead and liaise with diverse teams.
Problem Solving & Initiative : Motivated, solutions-oriented, and able to take initiative in managing responsibilities.
Health & Safety Knowledge : IOSH Managing Safely certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.
Key Attributes The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with a passion for landscaping and horticulture.
They should demonstrate leadership capabilities, effective communication, and a commitment to delivering high standards in a dynamic environment.
A proactive approach to environmental responsibility and safety is essential.
