You will be working face to face with children and young people who are experiencing challenges in accessing education, to explore the barriers and support them to re-engage.About the RoleGraduated Response Inclusion Practitioners work directly with children, young people, their families and professionals in a variety of settings; to enable them to re-engage in education.Supported by the Education Officer and your Manager, you will be expected to manage a caseload of children and young people.
You will provide a package of support to increase children and young people's access to education.
You will identify barriers, find solutions and act as advocate, so that schools can make suitable reasonable adjustments.
You will be part of the staff team primarily covering the West of the county, and part of the wider Inclusion Service Team covering the whole county.
Travel across the county is therefore necessary, along with a flexible approach, as some out of hours working may be required.

Good listening and communication skills both orally and in writing An ability to relate to parents/carers who may be under considerable stress Knowledge of child development and an awareness of differing needs of children and young people Knowledge of the education system, reasonable adjustments, specialist provision and the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) A flexible approach to working, including out-of-hours, and an ability and willingness to travel to various locations.
