Job summary **1 x Fixed Term contract/secondment opportunity for up to 11 months** *Internal applicants who wish to be considered for a secondment opportunity should discuss with their line manager the suitability of a possible secondment*
An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a dedicated and motivated Physiotherapist to become part of a dynamic and established Integrated Community Team (ICT) within the Forest of Dean, Tewkesbury, Newent & Staunton locality.
The ICTs consist of Community Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Reablement who work closely with our co-located Adult Social Care colleagues.
We have a role of 30 hours per week to join our fantastic physiotherapy team as a secondment opportunity or fixed-term contract ending 31/12/2025.
The post will cover Physiotherapy as part of the Home First & Reablement Team across Forest and Tewkesbury bases.
We work in partnership with GPs, community hospitals, mental health services and voluntary organisations to enable people to live as independently as possible at home.
The ethos of the team is focused around delivering person-centred rehabilitation at home, promoting independence and self management.
Main duties of the job
This is a multifaceted role with a varied caseload incorporating both urgent and routine patients.
The post holder will also be responsible for the delegation of work to other members of the Home First & Reablement team within the ICT, as well as holding a caseload.
This is an ideal opportunity for a Band 5 therapist wanting a development opportunity or a Band 6 looking for a new challenge who would like to work in new ways across one of the rural communities of Gloucestershire.
To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner; to work alone with access to guidance from highly specialised Physiotherapists within the trust.
To be professionally and legally accountable for a designated patient caseload and to decide priorities for own work area, balancing other patient related and professional demands.
To triage incoming referrals, deciding on urgency, and either delegate appropriately or provide the relevant urgent response within a timely manner.
To supervise, train, advise, support and manage physiotherapists, physiotherapy technicians/assistants, reablement workers, students and community care workers' performance who report to the post-holder.
To be responsible for the operational management of the team that reports to the post-holder; coordinating, allocating and organising the work of junior and assistant staff to meet service priorities.
About us
We have in excess of 5000 staff working over 50 sites, providing a diverse range of services.
We strive to support an organisational culture that is welcoming, builds and celebrates inclusivity and diversity and provides a sense of belonging and trust.
The annual NHS Staff Surveygives our people the opportunity to tell us about their experience working at the Trust.
For the 2023 survey just over 2800 colleagues gave us their views (58.5%).
It was great to see from the results that colleagues are saying that:
89.7% believe they are making a positive difference to patients/service users; 73.3% would recommend the organisation as a place to work; 82.4% agree that care of patients and service users is the organisations priority; 76.7% would be happy with the standard of care for a friend or relative
Our results put us as 5th nationally as a Community, Mental Health and Learning Disabilities NHS Employer of Choice and 1st equal amongst all NHS Provider Trusts in the South West.
However, we know we have more to do and will continue to drive forward our commitment to making GHC a Great Place to Work.
