What is the opportunity?
Our Fixed Income Desk strategists provide dynamic, thought-provoking strategic insights for clients.
This role will have a focus on G4 countries (US, EA, UK, JN) offering proactive and bespoke trade ideas and background analysis.
You'll report into the head of FICC Strategy and be part of an exciting team covering Rates and FX products that is intellectually curious, creative, analytical and passionate about markets.
With the opportunity to speak on a regular basis with senior leaders, traders and sales at Mizuho as well as the World's largest money managers and risk takers.
What will you be doing?
Actively contribute to the Mizuho Macro strategy teams daily research activities (written research, idea generation and trade pitches).
Follow all market-moving factors (economic, political, regulatory, debt issuance).
Originate trade ideas and pitch to sales, trading and clients.
Interact with clients via emails, instant messaging systems and meetings.
Improve analytical tools for strategy, sales and trading.
Build econometric models of various areas of global markets.
Build and maintain rates relative value models, auction strategies and supply calendars.
What do you need to succeed?
• Graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
• Strong understanding of macro-economic trends, market risk factors and geopolitical developments with a genuine interest in developing a career in macro research.
• Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written to articulate complex concepts and trading strategy.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, high stakes environment with strong problem solving skills.
• High level of computer literacy and skills in data manipulation/presentation (MS Office).
• Coding skills and modelling experience in Python.
• An ability to carry out research without detailed supervision.
We'd love to see: • Full time or internship experience in financial markets, ideally in research, portfolio management, trading, or market risk.
• A Master's or PHD degree in Economics, Finance or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
• Previous experience with software packages such as Bloomberg or Macrobond.
• Previous exposure to financial products in the fixed income space.
• Familiarity with rates curves and RV models.
