Our Future Transport team is seeking a Behaviour Change Lead to support the Head of Future Transport in driving the behaviour change agenda and ensuring that it is at the forefront of current and future transport schemes.
This role is critical to implementing behaviour change across the transport sector, with a strong focus on understanding peoples behaviour when it comes to choosing the right mode of transport for them and encouraging the region to use public transport, instead of their own vehicles.
Collaborating with universities local and national government, you will develop a strong understanding of what is happening in the field and use this information to highlight opportunities for improvement.
Transport for West Midlands have pioneered a centre of excellence for transport behaviour change, called the Influencing Transport Lab (ITL).
You will act as an ambassador to promote the work of the lab, gathering evidence that supports how the application of behavioural science can achieve improved transport outcomes both in the West Midlands and across the UK.
Youll work across both diverse and niche projects such as Connected Autonomy and how users interact with automated vehicles or Inclusive Crossings, which looks at how people with limited sight use different types of infrastructure.
The work youll be involved in will have a significant influence on how we implement the right initiatives, systems and approaches that make a positive impact.
To be successful in this role, you must be able to communicate articulately to a variety of audiences, comfortable challenging the status quo and understand human psychology and behaviour change.
Behavioural science is fundamental is transforming public transport and this is great opportunity for someone who wants to part of something unique, that will have a positively influence the region.

What you will be doing.
Identify funding opportunities and financial contributions towards expressions of interest/bids/applications.
Scope, deliver, implement and monitor Transport Behaviour Change projects.
Drive forward new and innovative approaches to the delivery of Transport Behaviour initiatives.
Support of the Head of Future Transport in ensuring behaviour change programmes are seamlessly integrated into the operational activity of Transport for West Midlands (TfWM).
Create, manage and monitor contracts.
Responsible for the financial management of relevant project budgets.
Prepare and present reports.
Build relationships with public and private sector partners to ensure effective delivery and implementation of projects.
Promote the activities of TfWM locally and nationally.
Provide professional advice to elected members and senior managers on technical and policy matters relating to Behaviour change.
Whats essential?
Experience of delivering fundamental changes to the transport system through innovation and behaviour change.
A detailed technical understanding of Government policy and thinking relating to Future Transport.
Experience in dealing with large complex initiatives.
Experience in dealing with a wide variety of organisations and gaining their agreement through negotiation.
Knowledge of UK and EU procurement process, including state aid, and how to apply procurement rules in an innovation framework.
Experience of developing, delivering, and operating large complex projects and initiatives with multiple public and private sector partners.
