We're seeking a passionate Fresh Water Scientist to join their dynamic team and make a meaningful impact in preserving vital water resources across Canterbury.
Role Overview:As a Fresh Water Scientist, you will be responsible for conducting research, monitoring water quality, and assessing the health of aquatic ecosystems.
Your work will contribute to the management of freshwater systems, ensuring the sustainable use of resources, and addressing challenges such as pollution, climate change, and habitat degradation.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct field and laboratory research to monitor water quality and aquatic ecosystems.
Analyse data to assess water chemistry, biology, and hydrology.
Collaborate with stakeholders to develop water management strategies and solutions.
Prepare reports, research papers, and presentations based on findings.
Monitor pollution sources and recommend mitigation measures.
Support environmental impact assessments and compliance with regulations.
Stay updated on the latest advancements in freshwater science and technology.
Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Freshwater Biology, Environmental Science, Hydrology, or a related field.
Strong analytical and research skills with experience in water sampling and data analysis.
Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and water quality monitoring tools.
Knowledge of relevant environmental regulations and policies.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
A passion for environmental sustainability and freshwater conservation.
Experience with GIS, statistical analysis, or environmental modeling is a plus.
