About the job We're looking for our first engineer to join the founding team at Fleggs.
This role is a good fit for anyone that's excited about tackling zero-to-one head-on (pretty much on a daily basis ), as we build the next generation of fitness.
We'll also be breaking a lot of the industry stereotypes along the way, so we're looking for someone that's driven, creative and persistent enough to pursue this with us.
What is Fleggs?
Right now, it's a double-sided marketplace for women's fitness.
Instructors can create and list their fitness, so customers can book sessions and events directly.
It's our MVP '0.5'.
But that's just the beginning.
We want to build the new Air BnB of Fitness, and we have some ideas and exciting moments ahead to scale this globally.
So if you're keen to know more, apply and let's chat.
What We're Trying to Solve: Our current marketplace is focused on supporting women, and nurturing female-friendly fitness solutions.
Women face a lot of psychological and physical barriers when it comes to exercise.
To the extent that 1 in 2 UK women now avoid the gym.
This 'barrier' also starts at a much younger age - impacting 85% of girls' worldwide, who aren't getting enough daily exercise.
So, we want to make fitness more flexible, accessible and social.
And by that, we don't mean "easy".
We want a fitness that can push and grow alongside us, so we need options that support today's busy women: Flexible: Time continues to be a huge barrier for women (women still account for 75% of total unpaid work).
So we want to build options outside of the gym, with solutions that represent today's needs.
Accessible: Whether its in-person, online, clubs, socials… fitness today has a lot of communities.
But access isn't always available.
So, we're building a more seamless interaction when it comes to finding and growing with your community.
Social: Ultimately, fitness is a way to connect.
Whether that's with new communities, or you're (re)building a relationship with yourself.
We want to leverage new technologies, methods and data to make fitness feel less punishing, and more social.
The opportunity: We hope the product and mission alone excites you We believe fitness is the new social.
Just as two decades ago social changed how we connect, fitness will only empower this further.
This is an opportunity to join the founding team, and help build tomorrow's movement with a product and brand that will revolutionise how we interact with fitness.
That, and you get to build a new working culture: Equity.
Flexible working (we appreciate this is still early stage, so let's chat on how and what this looks like for you).
Remote working (we have a working space in London for those that prefer to meet up) Wellbeing perks (incl.
2 personal days / month and fitness hours).
Access to community events.
Access to branded launches and socials.
Who you are: Considerate: First and foremost, we care about our mission and the problem we're solving.
We're seeking someone who is considerate, detailed and genuine about the product and culture we're building.
Strategic: You'll be joining incredibly early.
So time and impact is crucial for us.
Sadly, effort and ideas alone aren't always enough.
We need someone that is able to make strategic and considered moves to ultimately deliver results.
Creative: Social and community are at the heart of everything we do, so we need all the creativity we can cultivate to continue to engage, innovate and push our thinking.
Agile: This will always be a journey, so we need agile do-ers that can balance between persistence, focus and experimentation.
What you'll be doing: We need to get from our current MVP '0.5' to PMF quickly.
You'll be working alongside the founder to define the product roadmap, and executing it directly (note; this is an incredibly early stage, so some CTO / CPOs wouldn't be happy with our current stage of product life - you'll be very hands-on).
Build and launch products that inspire and grow our community.
You may at times also support pilot programs, A/B testing and user feedback to continue to enhance our user experience.
Support and validate our GTM with relevant product updates, customer feedback and your overall thought leadership / industry expertise.
Stay informed and have a POV on new technologies should we need to adapt and adopt where right.
Your skillset: We're looking for an engineer with a product mindset and an entrepreneurial lens, to expand on our existing marketplace with a forward thinking attitude.
In the future we may look to build a native app.
Whilst this skill set is not required, it would be a big plus if you already have experience building end-to-end native apps.
We're looking for a builders and makers mindset.
Building 0-1, but also the appetite to build 1-10 (even better if you can bring serious scale and system architecture skills to help us build a ).
Team work: you're collaborative, and comfortable translating across technical and non-technical teams (especially amongst startup chaos) - we will always be ideating and iterating User-Centric Design and UX Familiarity: You have a good grasp of user experience principles, especially for building intuitive and secure networks.
(note: this won't be a plug-and-play build.
We encourage and value your input when developing and iterating on the product).
We're not set on years of experience.
This role has enormous autonomy.
So we require someone that can structure their own work, influence, cultivate and inspire through product and impact.
Experience founding or working at an early-stage startup is therefore a huge bonus Hiring Process: "You are the average of the 5 people you spend most time with." We'll be spending a lot of time together, so let's make sure we like and respect each other.
Looking to get to know each other through a mixture of zoom and in-person meets: 45 mins Zoom interview.
1 hour in-person coffee with the founder (ideally in London).
Finally, a 30 min product roadmap discussion.
And finally, if you've read this far, we hope we've inspired you to apply ??? we look forward to chatting with you
