Food Technology Teacher Specialist SEN School Chelmsford A specialist SEN school in Chelmsford is seeking a dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join their team focusing on building essential life skills for students with additional learning needs.
This fulltime permanent role provides an opportunity to design and lead practical handson lessons in cooking nutrition and food safety supporting students in gaining independence and confidence in the kitchen.
Role Highlights Fulltime permanent Food Technology Teacher position in a welcoming SEN school environment dedicated to nurturing students growth through practical skills Plan and deliver engaging accessible food technology lessons covering a range of topics from basic cooking techniques to nutritional understanding and food hygiene practices Use adaptive teaching strategies to ensure all students can fully participate tailoring lessons to meet individual needs and abilities Collaborate closely with the SEN team to support each students learning journey enhancing independence through personalized instruction and positive reinforcement Play a key role in organizing foodrelated activities and events creating interactive learning opportunities that extend beyond the classroom Help students develop skills for daily life boosting their confidence and fostering a sense of accomplishment in mastering new tasks and recipes Experience and Qualifications Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with proven experience teaching Food Technology particularly in SEN environments and a passion for inclusive education Expertise in designing handson adaptive lesson plans that make cooking and nutrition accessible and enjoyable for all students Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene with the ability to integrate these practices into all classroom activities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a compassionate and encouraging approach to teaching making students feel supported and empowered Clear enhanced DBS check required to ensure a safe supportive learning environment for all students This role is ideal for an enthusiastic Food Technology Teacher who values the power of practical skills to promote independence and selfconfidence.
