Time Scale: 6-month project initially, to start ASAP with potential for full time position upon completion Salary: £65,000 per Annum equivalent About Rookwood Rookwood Operations Ltd is a nutrient recovery company based in Somerset; we are a start-up with big ambitions.
Working in the water and agricultural industries, we have developed a completely circular solution to a global environmental problem.
We are currently a small investment backed team, ready to solve a huge environmental issue.
Outline of main responsibilities As lead project scientist, you will play a crucial role in driving innovation and the advancement of the entire product development life cycle within the organisation's delivery of its innovative material to market.
You will have responsibility for finalising the evolution of the material we have developed so far, continuing its development through an iterative process of your design to test and improve to ensure it works at its peak within different use case environments.
You will have input on the design processes required to create the product at scale to meet customer demands.
You will be reporting into the CTO who also has responsibility for Quality Assurance, Innovation Management, Research and Development and Risk Management so your input will be required in these areas as well.
Key technical requirements This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong technical background in chemistry and/or material science.
BSc Degree of equivalent in related field, higher qualification desirable.
Effective written and oral communication skills Able to plan work, carry out background reading / research and maintain records.
Communicate effectively through technical reports, presentations and provides regular project updates Comply with all company policies and procedures, e.g.
code of conduct and safety compliance.
Ability to provide guidance and execute necessary work to allow Rookwood to obtain relevant regulatory approvals.
Personal Skills and Attributes A practical, hands-on chemist/scientist with excellent formulation skills and problem-solving ability Drive and determination to achieve both long & short-term objectives Ability to show initiative and flexibility in solving problems and time-management skills to multiplex between projects and meet their deadlines Develop deeper technical expertise in our technologies/processes and communicate/share/train teachings with Rookwood team.
