About the team and/or clientThis role sits within the Nexus Reporting Finance team, reporting into the Senior Financial Controller. The role will work closely with the wider Nexus Finance and FP&A team, as well as the wider GroupM central, EMEA and Global teams. Includes line management of one Management Accountant.
The Role ObjectiveThe objective of the role is to primarily oversee the financial reporting of Nexus Advanced TV, with particular focus on revenue reporting, in order to provide accurate and timely monthly management information to the various stakeholders. Full ownership and understanding and management of the balance sheet and P&L. Multiple audit liaison and assistance with statutory accounts preparation.
Key ResponsibilitiesFull management and understanding of the Advanced TV Balance Sheet and P&LParticular focus on Advanced TV net sales revenue reporting, working closely with key contacts across the business to ensure accurate recognition and reportingProvide Timely Management InformationMacro level Actuals analysis to support delivery of financial targets and highlighting of risks/opportunities for business growthAdapt reporting methods/information in line with business, standardised processes and financial reporting requirementsDrive efficiencies and establish procedures within the business to improve the financial reporting processWork closely with Finance Plus to define processes and handoffs, including being a point of escalationEnsuring compliance with the Sarbanes Oxley Act, IFRS and UK GAAP (statutory accounts)Responsibility of general ledger management and accuracy of a fully reconciled Balance SheetReview and approval of monthly payrollQuarterly VAT return preparationFlag, escalation and management of any issues / concerns in a timely fashionYear-end audit liaison and assistance with statutory accounts preparationManage, support and develop all members of the team to actively train and improve staff knowledge and experienceRelationship management of key group contacts across the Agencies, GroupM UK, GroupM EMEA and Finance PlusProvide any ad-hoc reporting requested by the GroupM UK Market Group Financial Controller, CFO / GFCHow Success is MeasuredAccuracyAdaptabilityTimelinessInsights driven analysisAdherence to WPP accounting policy and UK GAAPCompletion of key responsibilities in line with GroupM overall activitySkills and BehavioursEssentialFully qualified accountant or equivalent (e.g. CIMA, ACA, ACCA) Minimum 3+ years post qualificationAbility to coach and develop talent, bringing the best out in peopleAbility to interpret and manipulate data in a logical mannerAbility to concisely and clearly present information to financial and non-financial peopleProfessionalism and pride in accuracy and on-time deliveryConfidence to lead on projectsDesirablePrevious knowledge of WPP financial working practicesUnderstanding of media and communications industryCommercial mindset and ability to think in an agile wayPrevious SOX experience or equivalentProficient user of Excel, Cartesis and MediaOceanBehaviours:Must show a proactive approach to problem solvingDesire for continuous improvementAbility to work collaboratively in a large team and across the Agencies
