We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join our team.
This role is a permanent opportunity which will be based 2 - 3 days in either our Theale or Bristol office.
Purpose of roleTo own and manage the financial process, including:Producing accurate and timely monthly accounts; Maintaining relevant and up to date accounting policies; Producing and maintaining the monthly group P&L and cashflow forecast (and annual budget); Managing local accounting, taxation and statutory requirements and the relationship with the relevant audit and tax advisors.Partner with the sales and project management teams to provide financial and commercial support through the bid process; Create and produce project accounts with accurate and timely financial data; Supervise a team of 3 ResponsibilitiesManagement accountsPreparing monthly management accounts including profit and loss statement, cashflow and balance sheet; Reporting the management accounts in a format and template that is easy to digest, insightful and aids management decision making; Financial controlOwn accounting controllership function to ensure controls are suitable and relevant; Develop, implement, and maintain a robust financial control framework to safeguard the organisation's assets Ensure full consolidation of all subsidiaries on a monthly basis under IFRSWorking relationship with external auditors and tax advisors, preparing necessary year end information lists and ensuring required information is gathered from other stakeholders; Prepare and maintain relevant accounting policies; Ensure full compliance with all local taxation regulations and provide necessary information as required; Co-ordinate thepreparation of the annual statutory accounts in a timely fashion post year end(s).F, P & APrepare and maintain a monthly rolling forecast for the Group comprising P&L and cashflow at a minimum; With inputs from the CFO, Business Analyst and operational teams, prepare and report the annual budget comprising P&L, cashflow and balance sheet.M&AAssist in the integration of financial systems for any M&A targetsCommercialProvide commercial and financial modelling support to aid the sales team in the production of profitable and cash generative bids; Own the pricingtemplates used by the sales team, ensuring the costs are built from a standard costing methodology that achieves acceptable marginRaise commercial awareness of operational teams by training them on project accounting and key financial terms such as payment terms.Project accounting, performance managementMaintain full financial control of contracts, ensuring budgets and forecasts are prepared accurately; Analyse trends and evaluate project performance to improve project management; Have a thoroughand detailed understanding of gross margin and how this is calculated with working knowledge of all 3rd party costs; Prepare insightful and informative management information (MI) on projects to track progress and highlight any issues quickly and efficiently.OtherBe the custodian of the finance system and manage the relationship with other departments should updates or changes be required for the finance function to do their job efficiently; Respond to ad hoc internal and external requests for financial information and reporting; Support junior members of the team and provide coaching and mentoring whenever possible.Skills & ExperienceEssentialMinimum 7 years post qualification experience in a SME environment, preferably private equity backed in a similar roleSoft skillsExcellent communication and influencing skillsAbility to develop and maintain effective relationships with business partners and stakeholders at all levels of the organisationManagement SkillsAbility to coach, mentor and lead people effectivelyAbility to influence through provision of insightful and easy to understand analysis and reportingTechnical skills IFRS experienceF, P & A experienceUnderstanding of international taxAdvanced organisation, analytical and problem-solving skillsProficient in excel, word and powerpointKnowledge of project accountingFinance systems knowledgeExperience in working in a multi-currency environmentAttributesEssentialAble to build trust through open and transparent communication.
