Job Opportunity: Financial Controller We are seeking an experienced and proactive Financial Controller to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping the company's financial strategy.
This position will involve overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management to support the company's strategic goals.
You will lead the finance team and be responsible for key areas such as financial reporting, tax compliance, cash flow, payroll, cost accounting, and accounts management.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the development and evaluation of strategic plans, budgets, and forecasts for the group, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
Assess and improve financial systems to support the company's growth and future expansion.
Manage the preparation of weekly and monthly KPI reports, scorecards, and dashboards for all departments, including shopfloor.
Ensure accurate material costings and timely updates to systems reflecting product cost changes.
Oversee and report on shopfloor data, including labor allocation and time tracking.
Support the Senior Management Team in building accurate financial forecasts and ensuring operational information is aligned.
Manage external relationships with auditors, bankers, and other stakeholders to maintain smooth operations.
Lead the transition of payroll back in-house, overseeing weekly and monthly payroll functions.
Review, introduce, and manage new systems and processes to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Oversee cash flow management, debtor control, and financial projections.
Establish cost and profit centre reporting, including performance tracking per square foot.
Monitor working capital, resource allocation, and margin management.
Lead and mentor the finance team, identifying training and development needs.
Support the Financial Director in overseeing, directing, and organising finance team activities.
Evaluate investment opportunities and provide informed, balanced recommendations.
Take on additional duties as required.
Person Specification: To excel in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience: CIMA qualification (or equivalent).
A minimum of 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
Advanced IT skills with the ability to introduce and implement new systems.
Proven experience in a Financial Controller, Head of Finance, or Finance Director role, including exposure to supporting senior leadership in strategic decision-making.
Experience working in a growing SME environment.
High emotional intelligence to collaborate effectively with senior leaders.
Ability to adapt to change and thrive under pressure.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to provide data-driven insights for decision-making.
Eligibility to work and reside in the UK.
Excellent organisational and people management skills.
Resilient, self-driven, and ambitious, with the potential to progress to a director-level role within four years.
