And with our Peak Save programme, we're actively rewarding better energy use too.An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager within British Gas Services & Solutions (c3m customers) supporting our Home Protection Portfolio with a focus the supporting the regulated insurance entities BGIL/BGSL.
The role offers great exposure to senior stakeholders working closely with the S&S CFO and CRO through monthly Board Reporting, Forecasting and Performance Reviews as well as supporting across our regulatory requirements (PRA, FCA).
The individual will need to gain a strong end to end understanding of how the business works, and how performance and risk is measured.
They will also need to have or be willing to learn how accounting in the Insurance world works to be able to effectively work with the Financial Control team to establish new processes as the business changes and evolves their ways of working.
The role will work closely with the business in particular Risk, Underwriting, Pricing and Strategic Planning.Location - Windsor or Stockport with a flexible mix of office and home workingAccountabilitiesGeneralDevelop strong relationships with key stakeholders in the business and Finance Operations/GroupUnderstand and help shape the business strategy and own its translation into financial impacts for the Home Protection areaDevelop deep understanding of key drivers of revenue and costs, cashflow, and risks and opportunities and be conversant with the translation of commercial issues into financial impactsSupport the wider finance team and business by providing robust, insight and analysis to drive improvements in financial performanceSupport Transformation activities through design and delivery of changes to forecasting/reporting methodologies, to drive greater understanding, efficiency and standardisationCo-ordinate the production of standard finance deliverables to the agreed format, timeline and quality.
These will be supported by clear and focused messaging that supports the business area objectivesAct as part of the first line of defence in the identification and management of risksPlan and Monitor the BusinessRegularly review and report performance against Group Annual Plan & latest forecast, working with the business to analyse financial and operational (value driver) variances and recommend corrective actionDeliver an accurate, efficient and transparent plan/forecast which meets finance and business stakeholder requirementsTranslate financial business performance into clear reporting content (for inclusion in MBRs and FPRs etc).Provide Decision SupportSupport and influence decisions, empowering the business to self-serve appropriate data to inform decisions independentlyCarry out non-standard / bespoke analysis to support business decision makingIdentify performance improvement interventions and design means of implementing associated changes.
Facilitate relevant parts of the business to implement changesSupport the senior management in reviewing investments and develop means of articulating value of investment, facilitating and leading relevant parts of the business to deliver business casesExperience and QualificationsACA/ACCA/CIMA Accounting qualification +2yrs PQEPrevious commercial finance experience in a large organisation including:Communication of analysis and insight across the businessCommercial Finance/Business Partnering ExperienceExcellent commercial acumen and a strategic thinking, able to support the business in making critical decisionsStrong communication, capable of building trust and influencing decision making when neededInsurance industry experience an advantageWhy should you apply?
