The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time. The Role & Key Responsibilities From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference. The File Support Supervisor will be part of the File Support Team and will be accountable for the delivery of a specialist file build service that provides quality, first-line help to support the delivery of operational and local policing.
In this role you will supervise the File Support Assistants, ensuring that files are built according to the current Director General (DG) standards and that they deliver high quality evidential files to the Crown Prosecution Service.
You will also provide guidance, feedback and direction to the OIC and their supervisor, recognising good practice or development and assess the timescales for all files, allocate to staff taking account of their experience / workload and monitor timeliness so that the best results can be obtained from limited resources.
The role expects you to maintain pro-active management of staff to minimise abstractions, identify welfare needs, carry out Focus reviews and appraisals within force guidelines, identify training needs and to provide mentoring for new staff, thereby ensuring the best use of resources.
As a File Support Supervisor your duties will also include:
To collate and disseminate management information on unit performance. Identify and disseminate good practice in relation to file build and disclosure management. Partnership working and representing the File Support Team in meetings and interactions with internal departments, and external partner agencies. To be a point of contact for offering advice regarding Case File and disclosure management across the Force. Skills & Experience We are seeking individuals with the following skills, knowledge and/or experience:
Working knowledge of Niche CSM Educated to GCSE level Maths and English or equivalent level experience Good working knowledge of Criminal Justice and experience at supervisory level, specifically in relation to case file to current DG (Director General) standards and disclosure management. Proven ability to effectively performance manage staff and to deliver feedback and motivate/direct staff. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to continually prioritise workloads, work to strict timescales and prioritise critical decisions. Proven ability to accurately review and assess information from a variety of sources in a timely manner. Problem solving - Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment, connecting the links to other business areas / issues. Ability to diagnose the cause, propose options for resolution and proactively deliver the solution themselves or through others. Communication – confident communicator with an ability to engage quickly and build effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. Ability to competently contract, influence and articulate options to all levels. Proven experience of working in a security conscious environment with confidential material alongside an understanding of handling sensitive material. Proven ability to appropriately manage sensitive and confidential information. Good IT literacy - ability to do basic analysis of trends in data reporting to be able to produce clear summaries, and present accurate data, requiring a keen eye for detail. Accurate typing skills and attention to detail Sound understanding of the Police Service and the context in which it operates. Why Work With Us?
