Role: Field service engineer Permanent only Location: Plymouth Salary: £37k - £54k depending on experience + 6% annual bonus Onsite role: Need to be on-site 5 days per week to start with, there maybe flexibility on this over time but not at the start Key tech is: Linux, VMWare, vSphere, vCentre, network experience Must be able to obtain SC Clearance: So you must have a British Passport and not lived overseas in the past 5 years, you CANNOT be a not duel national.
The role: We're seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer to join our dynamic Engineering Team.
The successful candidate will work closely with our team to develop, build, and support secure technical solutions for our Defence customers.
As a Field Service Engineer, you will play a crucial role in configuring and maintaining network equipment, providing technical support for both Windows and Linux environments, and integrating radio systems and digital data links.
You will in Plymouth or customer locations, with occasional hybrid working opportunities.
The Field Service Engineer will report to the Project Manager.
In order to be successful, you will have the following experience: Experience with vCentre & vSphere virtualisation technologies.
Experience using Windows Server 2019/2022.
Experience working with Linux operating systems.
Proven ability to develop and implement secure technical solutions.
Familiarity with firewalls, cross-domain solutions, SQL administration Bonus if you had: CCNA, CompTIA+ - this is just a bonus if they have this, practical experience is more important Agile working methodologies would be advantageous.
Within this role, you will be responsible for: Network Configuration and Support: Identify, configure, and support network equipment to ensure optimal performance Virtualisation: Utilise VMware ESXi or similar virtualisation technologies to maintain and deploy virtual machines Windows Server Maintenance: Configure and maintain Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other core services Software Applications: Support the configuration and maintenance of software applications critical to operational success Radio Systems and Digital Data Links: Integrate and maintain radio communication systems and digital data links for Defence applications Technical Support: Provide remote or in-person support to deployed personnel, offering technical advice and troubleshooting Technology Research: Stay informed on emerging technologies and their potential applications to SNC's projects and programs Training and Development: Conduct training sessions for staff and clients, supporting the development of technical knowledge within the organisation Administration and Documentation: Maintain highly accurate configuration documentation and support routine administrative tasks How to apply?
