Fibre Engineer/Splicer 12-month contract £240 - £280 p/d Location: Central & North Scotland Our client is a leading technology company and specialist in the design, build, support and management of the UK's critical digital infrastructure, Reporting to and tasked by the Supervisor, as a Fibre Engineer you will be employed to install, connect and test optical fibre cable in the provision of PONs and spine routes on the Openreach network.
Key Deliverables Complete intrusive surveys ('rodding and roping') on the underground and overhead network to locate blockages and establish clear cable routes.
Assess CBT locations to minimise overhead road crossings.
Introduce COF 600, COF 215 & COF 250 cables to various nodes.
Build and create nodes (fibre cable joints).
Splice and test fibre cable.
Testing and fault location using red light and OTDR – interpret OTDR results.
Able to work off a job pack and FNC's Enter and work safely in all chambers.
(Footway, carriageway boxes and manholes.)
To have a good understand of street works and able to set up chapter 8.
Have strong IT skills for submitting end of day reports and LLR's on completed jobs.
