Family Worker Nature & Heritage Project Job descriptionINTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLYContract Type: Fixed Term post until 31.10.2025 to grant fundingHours: Full Time 37 hours per week It's an exciting time in Children and Young People Services as we continue to make solid progress towards our aims of achieving quality, supporting families and effectively managing risk.
We take pride in our local communities and want to support families to re-engage with their local resources and community-based assets.We are currently looking for a motivated and experienced Family Worker for our Nature & Heritage project to join our service.
The post will be based in Team Around the Family but will work closely with practitioners across Children's Services, including our Youth Justice and Early Intervention Service.
We have been successful in securing monies to support the running of nature and heritage-based groups, connecting children and their carers to the beautiful surroundings of Neath Port Talbot.
This is a unique opportunity, as the successful candidate will work across the service, developing, expanding and supporting the running of existing groups such as Y Gwyllt and Forest Schools.Providing specialist advice and acting as an advocate for joined up working across statutory, non-statutory and private providers, you will play a key role in making assessments, developing interventions and identify the best way of achieving sustainable outcomes.The post involves building effective relationships with children, young people and their families to change areas of their life.
Ideally, we are looking for a candidate who has experience in working with children, young people and adults to build their confidence through outdoor based activities.
The successful candidate will be resourceful and self-motivated; any experience with volunteering, grant applications and links with existing groups and local resources will also be a strength.The post requires a NVQ level 4 or equivalent in a relevant discipline.Your workstyle will be a mobile hybrid worker in this role which gives you the flexibility to work from home and from a variety of Council workplaces.
