Job overview ·This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, organised and diligent individual with good IT skills, to assist, develop and effectively manage databases to failsafe Antenatal and Newborn Screening programmes within OUHFT.·To ensure that failsafe processes and screening pathways are completed in a safe and timely manner.·To work within the Antenatal and Newborn Screening Team to make essential contribution to ensure high standards of care for all the maternity population.·To identify and prevent missed screening opportunities.·To work in conjunction with the members of the multi-disciplinary team.·To assist in any clinical audit using appropriate audit tools to evaluate and develop best practice.·Previous experience in Antenatal and Newborn screening is desirable.
If no previous experience a full induction programme will be provided.
Main duties of the job MAIN RESPONSIBILITIESProfessional and Clinical Responsibilities·The Antenatal and Newborn (ANNB) failsafe officer supports the Antenatal and Newborn Screening team in the collation and entry of data for the Antenatal and Newborn Screening programmes, Infectious Diseases in Pregnancy, Downs syndrome screening and Fetal Anomaly Screening, Haemoglobinopathy screening, Newborn Infant Physical examination, Newborn Hearing and Newborn Bloodspot Screening, also including relevant vaccination programmes.·The Failsafe officer will identify screening coverage of the eligible population.·To work closely within the Antenatal and Newborn Screening team to facilitate failsafe mechanisms to identify and prevent missed screening opportunities and maintain an audit trail for all the above-mentioned screening programmes.·The ANNB failsafe officer alongside the Antenatal and Newborn Screening Team will also maintain and evolve mechanisms to collect cohort data for the key performance indicators (KPI).·The ANNB failsafe officer will be expected to communicate with other professionals involved in the screening process, to participate in the organisation of meetings, potentially take minutes for the meetings, preparation of teaching materials.·The post holder will work flexibly within the service to meet operational demands.
This includes working clinically where required.

As a large Tertiary hospital, the John Radcliffe offers a large Delivery Suite with an en-suite birthing pool room, Maternity theatres and a specific Maternity Recovery Ward.
There are specialist services such as the Fetal and Maternal Medicine Team and Bereavement Team.
For those working with us, we have a named Maternity Psychologist days a week to support all staff, as well as a ever-expanding team of Professional Midwifery Advocates to provide pastoral support.
