Factory Manager

Working with the site Senior Leadership Team to develop and set the pace to implement business and continuous improvement strategies with considerations towards the organisational structure, culture, people and processes.
Support the direction and deployment of the Lean framework (MPS) to ensure consistent and rigorous application across the site in line with best practice.
Responsible for the successful management and implementation of business improvement projects/initiatives across operations by developing an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible team by building working relationships and ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.
To manage the Manufacturing operation (Production & Packing) and Engineering function to achieve the lowest cost operating base whilst overseeing Health & Safety and championing Food Safety, Product Quality and Customer Service.
To drive and lead team development across area of responsibility as the site moves further into growth and investment, reinvigorating and restating the site culture and ensuring necessary behaviours are demonstrated at all levels in the business.
The job holder has direct responsibility for the Manufacturing, Engineering and Health & Safety.
Requirements Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities To support and influence the Senior Leadership Team in the development and implementation of site manufacturing strategy.
To act as a role model for Employee Engagement, driving Continuous Improvement through personal passion, coaching and mentoring.
To maintain and develop systems to ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards, driving an improving culture of Health & Safety and employee driven dynamic risk assessment and management.
To maintain and develop systems to ensure compliance with Food Safety and Quality standards, driving an improving culture of Quality improvement through engaged team members.
To lead the development of team members, enhancing productivity through standard setting, training, communication and strong leadership.
To develop and maintain suitable Lean Manufacturing tools that drive proactive and corrective actions at an appropriate level by use of escalation and information cascading in order to meet established KPI targets.
As a key member of the Site Leadership Team the jobholder will need to liaise closely with all other management functions as appropriate.
Ensure plant, equipment, buildings and facilities are maintained to a standard that delivers an effective and safe operation by utilizing and management of appropriate planned maintenance strategies that is delivered in a cost-effective manner.
Ensure that all statutory and legal compliance is met on a day-to-day and long-term basis.
Recognized subject matter expert for allocated legal compliance specialism.
For example, Pressure Systems, LEV, LOLER, Ammonia etc.
Manage the site's capital plan and implement a program of continuous improvement.
Ensure that there is a current criticality analysis for the site and equipment and that there are suitable plans in place to mitigate serious failures.
Contribute to and implement the equipment maintenance strategy with the asset owner utilizing the SDUK Manufacturing Performance System (MPS).
Drive Asset Care strategy and standard setting to enable implementation of autonomous maintenance approach.
The role has c 70 Indirect reports.
c. 3.5k tonnes of finished production per year across a range of filling and packing lines.
The FY24 R&M budget is £727k Current parts stock valuation is £241k FY24 Capital budget excluding the Hub £1,018k Third party / Contractor account management Skills, Knowledge & Behaviours A relevant manufacturing/engineering degree is preferred, or HND, BTEC Professional •          Membership of an industry related professional body would be advantageous •          Master Black Belt in Six Sigma or equivalent qualification •          Background in manufacturing and/or engineering environments •          Background in people management and project management.
