Job summary Contract - PermanentHours - hours per weekBase - ScarboroughAre you looking for a post based within our York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management Team?Are you a strong team player, kind, friendly and motivated?Then we may have the role for you!York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (YTHFM) are looking for an approachable and flexible Facilities Operative to join our team in Scarborough.
Experience is not necessary as full training will be given, but a willingness to learn and develop your skills is essential.The working pattern for this role is via a rolling rota that covers the hours that the department is operational - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.Overtime/additional hours may also be available at times, for those who wish to do this.
Main duties of the job Duties include: Linen Room - distributing and assisting with deliveries of linenPortering - helping with patient flow and movement of equipment around the hospitalDomestic Duties - cleaning wards/departments and serving tea/coffee/food to patientsEnvironment - removing and segregating wasteCatering - working in the kitchen alongside the Catering team About us We offer a range of benefits to support our staff including: National terms and conditions for NHS workers Competitive hourly rate of£.
Enhanced Pay for unsocial hours worked - unsocial hours are any hours worked on weekends or between the hours of 8pm and 6am.
At Band 2, the enhancements are: all time on Saturday (midnight to midnight) and any week day after 8 pm and before 6 am - time plus 41%(£ hour) or all time on Sundays and Public Holidays (midnight to midnight) - time plus 83%(£ per hour).

Person Specification Experience & knowledge Essential Able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions Desirable Able to use small and large pieces of equipment such as Regeneration oven/dishwashers/Floor machinery Experience of working in cleaning industry Previous experience of working in the NHS Aptitude & personal qualities Essential Flexible and adaptable Good customer service skills Education & qualifications Essential Good basic education which includes reading and writing plus basic numeric skills Basic understanding or a willingness to complete appropriate qualifications and training which includes: ?

infection prevention and control ?
Food Hygiene Level 2 ?
Relevant water systems training ?
Use of equipment such as regeneration ovens, dishwashers and floor machinery Desirable Clean driving licence skills and Attributes Essential Basic IT skills Able to work alone and with others as part of a team using initiative Ability to: - Undertake cleaning duties involving lifting items and operating cleaning machinery, some of which is industrial standard.
