Fabrication Buyer

Recra are working in partnership with an established fabrication/sheet metal company that manufactures a broad range of products and they specialise in all aspects of welding and fabrications.
Our client are looking to add a Senior Buyer to their team in Coventry.
About the role: Act as a point of contact between the company and suppliers.
Identify potential suppliers based on project requirements.
Negotiate contracts, terms, and deadlines with vendors and suppliers.  Manage to ensure goods delivery in a timely manner Able to build long-term and stable partnership relationships with key suppliers in order to maintain continuity of supply, to reduce the cost of procurement, and to obtain competitive advantage in procurement area.
Analyse procurement demand and the market, to achieve objectives of procurement cost control and lower general cost of procurement according to business's strategies.
Identify risks from the ever evolving procurement environment, set up and implement a risk mitigation plan to maintain consistent supply levels.
Organise communication with suppliers periodically according to the requirements of that category to build durable relationships with suppliers.
Maintain database of Components, determine stock levels in distribution and monitor availability of components and stock longevity.
Organise periodic supplier audits and evaluation, ensuring continuation of suitable suppliers on approved suppliers register Gather and analyse research material on markets and clients' information for the sourcing of potential suppliers to ensure validity of procurement strategies.
Drive and enhance supplier understanding of management processes and guidelines.
Develop strategies that strengthen the quality of the organisation's relationship with the supply base by identifying opportunities to continuously improve the effectiveness of communications and supplier relationship building activities in association with ISO9001/ IATF 16949 requirements.
Promote and encourage cross functional participation from all areas of the Sales, Engineering, Production, Finance and Quality Team.
Actively manage sourcing activities relating to business models, via management of RFQ, key sourcing processes and quotation analysis / negotiation.
Devise and agree benchmarks and maintain a strong awareness through the investigation of new supply markets and assessing suppliers' capability.
Ensure quality of procured items and addresses problems when they arise using quality problem solving techniques such as 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone etc Compiling and maintaining purchase records, supplier databases and procurement contracts Managing suppliers KPI's Determine quantity and timing of deliveries Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand Conduct business review meetings with key stakeholders to assess risk, review future strategies, and identify potential cost down and improvement opportunities.
Advise senior management and improve procurement process Skills and Experience: Strong expertise in Fabrication procurement Able to benchmark market pricing and negotiate revised terms with the supplier base accordingly; Familiarity with internal MRP systems Hard working spirit, can deliver to tight deadlines and workplace pressures; Results orientated; Proactive, can-do work attitude; Strong stakeholder management skills; Able to be a credible ambassador for the team, Strong office system skills (Office, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
Good understanding of ISO9001 systems in relation to the Purchasing and Supply function, ideally IATF 16949.
Ability to analyse large quantities of data and produce subsequent reports from this data.
