Title: Import & Export Team Leader Job Summary: My client are looking for a Import and Export Team Leader to join their team for 12-months.
This role focus' on the end-to-end management of the flow of goods into and out of Great Britain.
The position will also involve preparing and submitting all necessary documentation to facilitate the smooth movement of goods.
This role will also have two Import & Export Coordinators as direct reports Main Responsibilities: Exports: Ensure customer orders are accurately checked, received, and entered into the system promptly and with 100% accuracy.
Issue complete export documentation (e.g., EHC, Export Declaration, TADs) for cheddar and pallets shipped to Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, and TRACES destinations.
Ensure all export documents are compliant with the destination country's regulatory requirements.
Maintain and update export trackers with accurate information.
Imports: Ensure the import declaration process is followed accurately and within the agreed service level agreements (SLAs).
Maintain the flow of data within the e-customs clearance platform, ensuring 100% accuracy.
Keep import trackers consistently updated and accurate.
Additional Responsibilities: Provide customs support for GB sites (3 locations) regarding imported goods and capital equipment.
Meet and deliver on import and export key performance indicators (KPIs).
Manage projects related to import and export flows, from inception to implementation.
Offer customs support and cover for newly acquired businesses.
Collaborate and resolve customs clearance issues with HMRC.
Conduct meetings with external stakeholders, including suppliers, HMRC, vets, and customs agents.
Manage contracts with vendors, including freight forwarders, logistics providers, customs brokers, hauliers, and veterinarians, ensuring adherence to SLAs and cost agreements.
Support and manage the team, including setting objectives, working on personal development plans (PDPs), and providing holiday cover for daily operational tasks.
Prepare data for annual audits of import/export flows, e-customs platforms, and customs brokers, ensuring trade compliance, record-keeping, and data accuracy.
Perform weekly and monthly audit reports, ensuring imports and exports meet timelines and are completed accurately.
Work closely with the IT department to ensure accurate import/export data flow and raise any necessary IT tickets.
Continuously improve import/export processes, seeking opportunities for greater efficiency and reduced manual input.
Essential Skills, Experience, and Knowledge: Experience in shipping, exports, freight forwarding, or customs operations.
Competence in issuing complete sets of import/export documentation for both EU and non-EU countries (e.g., Bill of Lading, Health Certificates, Import/Export Declarations, Certificate of Origin, TAD).
Knowledge of Incoterms, commodity codes, export regulations/processes, and trade compliance.
Understanding of import/export procedures to support the existing business model.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and plan effectively, ensuring a high level of attention to detail.
Self-motivated, driven, and capable of working independently.
Proven ability to manage data accurately, multitask, and maintain a high level of numeracy.
Team player with enthusiasm to meet targets and objectives.
Problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly analyse and resolve errors in customs entries.
Desirable Skills, Experience, and Knowledge: Experience with e-customs platforms and day-to-day management of operational systems.
French language skills are an advantage Salary: £40,000- £44,000 Location: Surrey
