Job summary Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) is the largest NHS Health Board in Wales with a turnover of £ and has an exciting opportunity for an experienced medical leader with a track record in consistently delivering clinical effectiveness and patient safety to join our Medical leadership team as an Executive Medical Director.

As a critical member of our team, you will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and work in close collaboration with our (2) Deputy Executive Medical Directors and the Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery.

The prime responsibility of the Executive Medical Director is to provide medical leadership so that population health outcomes improve.
The Executive Medical Director will be responsible for medical and dental leadership, building, motivating and developing a team of clinicians, to drive forward service transformation across the BCU Health Boardhealthcare community, Main duties of the job We have ambitious plans to become an outstanding, patient-led Health Board in North Wales where dedicated staff provide high quality care, compassionate care to our patients.
We continue to undergo significant transformation and our staff and patients are at the heart of delivering this ambitious agenda.
Key responsibilities include; o Act as the principal source of medical advice to the Board and act as a professional lead for all doctors, dentists and clinical networks o Jointly lead on the clinical governance agenda, in conjunction with the Nurse Director and Director of Therapies and Health Science Work closely with primary care providers and local authorities to develop patient focussed integrated care pathways o Undertake the role of Responsible Officer in accordance with the requirements of the General Medical Council.
o Undertake the role of Caldicott Guardian o Support the development of, and governance arrangements for, undergraduate and postgraduateeducation o Support excellence in research and development, and champion best practice incare o Ensure that the Health Board makes a significant contribution to health improvement and the reduction of healthinequalities About us Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is the largest health organization in Wales, providing a comprehensive range of primary, community, mental health, and acute hospital services for a population of around 700,000 people across North Wales.

Boasting 250 miles of coastline, the are plenty of beautiful beaches to enjoy all year round.
Much of the Wales Coast Path can be cycled as well as walked, as it shares a route with the National Cycle Network.

Further evidence of management training and a commitment to ongoing professional development Experience and Knowledge Essential Must be or have been a practising GP or worked at Medical Consultant level and ideally have prior experience at Medical Director or Executive level.
Clinical Governance.
Medical Management Significant organisational change experience / managing difficult and complex change.
A track record of achievement in: -Effective performance management; -Introducing robust systems and processes; and -Facilitation of groups.
Undertaking sensitive negotiations.
Successful initiation and facilitation of strategic partnership working and alliances.
A good understanding of the health and social care management environment in Wales and of roles and responsibilities within it.
A good understanding of national targets.
A good understanding of performance management methodology.
Developing an organisational culture that promotes clinical engagement in decision making and leading continuous change and improvement in services, encouraging the use of new clinical and service technologies.
The safety and standards agenda.
An understanding of the principles of Public Health Medicine that are relevant to, and underpin the work of the LHB.
