Job summary This role will provide you with an opportunity to work in a pivotal role within a busy, high-profile NHS Chief Executive office.
You will be working closely with the CEO, Strategy and Transformation Director and Head of Policy and Engagement to ensure the smooth running of the CEO Office and support the organisations international engagement activity.You will be given opportunities to grow and develop your skills and gain new experiences within the role.
You will also be helping to ensure that NHS Blood and Transplant can save as many lives as possible through the gift of blood, plasma, organ, and tissue donation.The successful candidate will be working across the CEO Office and Strategy teams and will have highly developed organisation skills and excel working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
They will have experience in working in a politically sensitive area, using their tact and discretion in managing meeting requests, emails, and correspondence.
Main duties of the job In this role you will play a pivotal role in supporting NHS Blood and Transplants Chief Executive Officer, providing Executive Assistant and administrative support for the CEO, with a focus on international engagement activity.
Your responsibilities will include:Working in collaboration with the CEO office, ensure that CEO has the necessary briefing, seeking contributions from stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts as appropriate.Supporting the CEO in their attendance of national and international meetings and events.Collaborating with a range of internal and external stakeholders to plan national and international meetings, seminars and events that are complex in nature and important in the effective delivery of our services.Working with the Strategy and Transformation Director, to provide support for the organisation of international events and documentation.Collaborating with a range of stakeholders with international procurement projects.
This includes working across blood service partners to ensure that the governance arrangements are adhered to and that all project documentation is properly distributed and filed.Providing an Executive Assistant Service to the CEO/Chair of the organisation including managing their diary, mailbox, meetings and travels.Supporting with marketing materials such as articles for media engagement and supporting with budget management About us It takes all types of people to deliver the kind of service that saves and improves lives.

What we offer: A starting salary of £37,338 - £44,962 per annum in accordance with Agenda for Change (AfC).
A full time, permanent opportunity to join as a Band 6, and progress with NHSBT.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Level 5 qualification (such as a Degree or HND).
This may be in a science subject, or alternatively in a business subject HND in Business Studies or similar subject.
OR Equivalent in-depth knowledge & experience gained through working with scientific/medical equipment and supplies or in a warehousing environment.
Educated to NVQ Level 4 in a relevant qualification and/or have significant experience in a similar role working for Senior Management/Executive Teams.
Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD).
Experience Essential Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, including PowerPoint, Excel and Word to enable the post holder to compile reports, communicate by e-mail, produce letters or minutes of meetings.
In-depth knowledge of equipment and consumables used in processing or testing of blood/blood products/tissues/samples.
Experience of exercising judgement and independently managing own work and the work of others.
Experience or knowledge of procedures and documentation for the shipment of goods overseas, and experience of document control.
Experience of warehousing and/or stock management, including stocktaking and reconciliation.
Advanced Personal Assistant skills, travel bookings, meeting room bookings, GotoMeeting, etc.
Relevant practical business experience working with and for senior management.
In-depth knowledge of domestic and international blood communities.
Experience of budget management and of providing project management support.
Experience of working within the NHS, public sector or equivalent.
