CONTRACT : Full time permanent role (open to requests from candidates for flexible working) START DATE : Immediate (depending on notice period) REPORTS TO : Murmur Board of Trustees LOCATION : London based from Young Space offices with some home working SALARY : Dependent on experience CLOSING DATE: 24 th November 2024 but please note that interviews may take place before the closing date according to applications INTERVIEWS: Likely to take place weeks commencing 3 rd and 10 th December 2024 Please note the application process at the end of this Job Description.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF MURMUR Murmur launched earlier this year with the goal of uniting the art and music industries in addressing the climate crisis.
Our vision is a society in which artists are informed advocates, operating in climate literate and responsible industries, and collaborating with world-class environmental organisations.
We work with leading art and music businesses who, through Murmur, are funding the initiatives that will change the industry, change the conversation, and the environmental organisations that are changing the world.
Murmur had received pledges of over £1m towards these initiatives at the time of launch.
In the months to come, we will also launch Murmur Artists Support in collaboration with climate and music communications experts including Groundswell, part of the Global Optimism movement, and Richard Dawes (dawbell PR).
This programme will support artists who want to speak up on climate and on behalf of the planet, unlocking the enormous potential of cultural actors to drive change.

ROLE Murmur seeks an Executive Director to lead the organisation, build the strategy and drive growth in partners and funders in the years to come.
This is an exciting moment to join this impactful charity with a fantastic board of trustees and team, and to work with the art and music industries to effect real change on environmental issues.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving Murmur into its next phase and will need to show an entrepreneurial mindset and an ability to ensure successful and sustainable growth and development.
The Executive Director will: Lead the Murmur team (currently 2 reports, but due to grow), reporting to the board of trustees With the board, determine the overall strategy and goals for Murmur Build strong relationships with partners who are leading art and music businesses Present Murmur to potential new partners and sign them up Work with the new PR Director and advisory board to build and launch Murmur Artists Support Work with the Operations Director to maintain effective delivery of day to day business Ensure the mobilisation of the industry projects that Murmur is funding Have overall budgetary responsibility for Murmur Secure funding for operational overheads Explore partnership opportunities Lead external communications and be the spokesperson for Murmur Host and speak at events The right candidate will bring experience in these areas: Art and/or music industry contacts and credibility at a high level Ability to build and grow an organisation dynamically and responsibly Fundraising, development, new business and closing deals with partners An interest in or knowledge of environmental sustainability issues Working with and understanding of artists Ability to convincingly pitch a vision Strategic approach to media and communications Budget management and financial modelling Public speaking Other desirable experience includes: Experience of a leading role in a charity Working with trustees Building something new from scratch Theory of Change development and implementation Application Process Please send your CV with a covering letter to infomurmur.earth outlining your suitability for this role and highlighting your experience of building a team and/organisation from the ground up along with the associated challenges of growing such an organisation.
