About the Role Due to ongoing expansion, my client is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their close-knit team.
This individual will contribute to their Pre-Construction team, preparing competitive tender submissions for construction projects.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a proactive, solution-focused approach to challenges.
The position is ideal for someone with estimating experience in refurbishment projects within healthcare, commercial, or education sectors.
Nationwide travel and occasional overnight stays may be required for tender surveys.
Key Responsibilities As an Estimator, you will:
Analyse tender documentation to determine subcontractor and material requirements.
Prepare and issue trade package subcontractor and supplier enquiries.
Review and align subcontractor tenders, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
Identify and compile tender qualifications and exclusions.
Develop comprehensive tender cost documents using standardised templates.
Address pricing gaps through first-principles labour, plant, and material cost analysis.
Build tender-stage programmes and produce take-offs for general works (e.g., flooring, partitions, and ceiling finishes).
Price project preliminaries based on programme durations, covering welfare, waste, and protection requirements.
Essential Skills and Experience 3–5 years of estimating experience within a main contractor environment in the healthcare, commercial, or education sectors.
Strong time management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Effective teamwork and independent working capabilities.
Commitment to deliver quality work beyond standard hours when necessary.
Proficiency in IT, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.
Enhanced DBS clearance (to be obtained during onboarding).
Desirable Skills and Qualifications Familiarity with JCT/NEC forms of contract.
Experience with SMM7 and/or NRM standards.
Degree or construction-related qualification.
