Environmental Specialist

Manage environmental compliance at Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) Facilities in the UK and Ireland, and provide technical support to existing and future operations.
Collaborate with operations leadership teams to execute environmental procedures and ensure compliance with regulations.
Utilize risk assessments and compliance evaluations to lead site-specific continuous improvement initiatives.
Analyze and communicate best practices, and work with teams to ensure business success.
Responsibilities include: • Managing and executing multi-site responsibilities to comply with environmental laws and regulations.
• Participating in the development and implementation of environmental management systems and processes.
• Analyzing site performance and identifying plans to implement and fix deficiencies.
• Cooperating with authorities and implementing notification procedures.
• Participating in annual data collection and reporting.
Key job responsibilities include: • Assisting in the implementation and enforcement of environmental and regulatory standards.
• Completing environmental inspections and performance analysis.
• Managing and executing site responsibilities to comply with environmental laws and regulations.
• Managing waste management activities and classification.
• Monitoring and providing guidance on site performance.
• Supporting other sites with environmental compliance.
• Ensuring site leadership and employee training.
• Analyzing environmental metrics and reviewing trends.
• Executing site-specific tasks associated with the implementation of environmental programs.
• Identifying plans to implement and fix deficiencies.
A day in the life involves working with site teams, engaging stakeholders, and delivering effective environmental compliance.
The ability to flex and respond to changing priorities is essential.
The Environmental Assurance and Protection team protects Amazon businesses and supports customers by mitigating environmental regulatory risks and protecting the environment.
Basic qualifications include: • A Bachelor's Degree in civil, chemical, or environmental engineering.
• Experience as an environmental technical resource or program specialist.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
• In-depth knowledge of EU, country, and region-specific regulations.
• Experience engaging with Regulatory Agencies in permit applications.
Preferred qualifications include: • Broad knowledge of EU environmental regulations.
• Experience in warehouse operations and logistics.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and the use of pivot tables and charts.
• Ability to manage multiple sites remotely.
• Must be detail-oriented and technically oriented.
