You will be required to develop, review and enforce all site Fire Safety and Environmental Protection policy instructions in line with current Statutory Regulations and MOD mandated policy.
The role is high profile, exciting, varied and provides an opportunity to improve leadership skills whilst working collaboratively with DIO colleagues, Industry Partners and other internal/ external stakeholders Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following; Fire Safety including maintenance on all firefighting equipment, maintaining accurate equipment testing records.
Conduct annual fire drills throughout the estate covering each building annually.
Act as liaison officer for the local fire brigade during exercises and provide guidance during familiarisation visits to Fort Blockhouse, Updating Fire, H&S Polices and Posters.
Environmental Protection- Implementation and management of Site EnvironmentalPlan and policies Energy Management including the monitoring and ordering of heating fuels across the estate recording usage.
Liaison with our industry partner for the seasonal heating program.
Waste Management including Miscellaneous and Hazardous waste disposal via the Defence Disposal Services Authority (DDSA).
Person specification The successful candidate will possess drive and enthusiasm in a key front facing role with the ability to deal with sensitive matters and manage the expectations of various stakeholders.
Experience and Skills Understanding of safety policies and procedures (in any industry).
Strong interpersonal skills; self-confident; ability to work on own initiative within a wide ranging but structured environment.
The ability to adapt to changing priorities and tight deadlines.
Use of MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, One note) to support work outputs.
Desirable Experience & Skills Experience of Fire Safety and / or Environmental Management Please note that the successful candidate will be expected to complete the MOD Fire Safety Managers course within 3 Months of taking post if not already held, as well as completing any additional environmental courses required to undertake the role.
