We are looking for an Engineering Manager who can lead the automation and manual testing plus the operation of our Quality Engineering capabilities and Environments Management. You will be responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of test procedures, Quality Engineering best practice, selection of quality engineering tooling and the testing of the products under development as well as Quality Assurance on all projects and programmes at New Look. Providing an in-depth knowledge around the use of automation, the implementation into the SDLC and effectively take ownership as the SME within Technology to deliver Quality Engineering best practice.
As Quality Engineer Manager, you will be supporting, leading and encouraging teams and individuals, helping them to be at their best. Design, create and deliver a quality engineering function to improve the availability, scalability, performance, and efficiency of our internal or customer facing services.
Responsibilities: Design, create and deliver a quality engineering function and test strategies to support the availability, scalability, performance, and efficiency of our internal or customer facing services.Proven ability to use initiative to deliver tested solutions to technical and business problems under tight deadlines.Ability to work with and manage on and offshore 3rd party test partners.Provide expert guidance and recommendations regarding test automation services and solutions.Work closely with Software Engineering as well as the Infrastructure and Platform development teams to help guide the teams validate and prove we are creating scalable and maintainable solutions.Work closely with the overall strategy, engineering, and architecture aspect of the SDLC process to help craft and implement Group strategies into the wider department.Be an active part of the tech management team, supporting the Head of Engineering to ensure sufficient support for the services and applications we support and line-managing, mentoring, coaching and leading your team.Contribute to the group OKRs and house delivery, defining and driving appropriate strategies and their adoption, within the squads and engineering team.Contribute towards larger, strategic, portfolio work, ensuring they meet our engineering principles.Contribute to the stability and security of the environment.Ensure we have a sustainable environments management process across Technology.Be part of a team that contributes and creates new designs, architectures and standards for large-scale enterprise systems.Engage in service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis and system tuning.Define process and best practices for reliable and timely delivery of quality products.Communicate work status regularly with a clear articulation of design choices along the way.Lead, develop and maintain knowledge of the automation and manual testing best practice to inform design and strategic planning.Ensure that our quality engineering function supports the rapid development of business systems leading to increased business capability, reliability and security.Review and approve statements of work and deliverables for any testing carried out by external providers.Manage the relationship with third-party test resource providers, including regular service reviews and service improvement plans.About You: Skills: In-depth knowledge of Software Testing Lifecycle, including hands-on experience on various Automation tools for Integration, Functional and API Testing.Strong understanding of Testing methodologies, best practices, and industry standards.Proficient in creating test strategies and test plans.Has an innovative approach – a bold thinker and doer, matching creativity with vigilance.Excellent communication and presentation skills.Experience: Extensive experience as a Test Manager, with a strong background in manual and automated testing.Experience in Retail domain would be an advantage.Has worked on complex projects that involve multiple parties and that includes multiple vendors.Define appropriate approach, industry standards, testing methods, tools for multiple Projects.Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience.ISTQB Advanced advantageous.Additional course or certification in Quality Assurance.Experience of successful multi-project delivery consisting of multiple delivery teams and overall team size of 10+ (minimum).Experience of managing matrix teams, preferably across multiple locations including international.A strong understanding of all stages in an iterative lifecycle and delivery approaches/methodologies.Leadership: Coach, mentor, and develop your team to deliver value early and often, optimise flow of work, drive quality through fast feedback.Ability to develop best practice, role modelling and embedding this into the wider engineering team improving quality and flow.Lead by example, motivate, draw out, and reward the best work from individuals and highlights exemplary behaviour, skills, or accomplishments.Help build a safe and trusting team environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or judgement, with an emphasis on problem solving.Desire to do the right thing, always.Why New Look?
