We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Manager to join our team at Bondsmith.
As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing our engineering team to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality software products.
While your primary focus will be on team performance, delivery, and process improvement, you should also have a strong technical background and be capable of reviewing code and contributing to technical discussions.
Key Responsibilities:Lead, mentor, and develop multiple agile development teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.Set clear goals and expectations for team members, providing regular feedback and performance evaluations.Manage resource allocation, balancing team workloads to ensure timely delivery of projects.Technical Leadership:Provide hands-on technical guidance and support, helping teams solve complex problems and make informed technical decisions.Stay current with industry trends and technologies, ensuring that teams adopt best practices and are equipped with the right tools and technologies.Occasionally contribute to the codebase, particularly in areas requiring deep expertise or during critical project phases.Delivery Management:Own the delivery process from planning to release, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with high quality.Collaborate closely with Engineering and Product, and other stakeholders to prioritise work, define clear requirements, and ensure alignment on project goals.Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and addressing risks and bottlenecks as they arise.Process Improvement:Drive continuous improvement in the development process, leveraging agile methodologies to optimise team performance and product delivery.Implement and refine metrics to measure team performance, product quality, and delivery efficiency.Cross-Functional Collaboration:Collaborate with Product, Platform, QA, and other teams to streamline the development pipeline and improve overall efficiency.Serve as a key liaison between engineering and other departments, ensuring clear communication and alignment on company objectives.Qualifications:Experience:5+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.Proven track record of successfully managing multiple agile development teams and delivering complex software projects.Strong technical background with hands-on experience in software development, particularly in delivering SaaS platforms in Java and/or Typescript.Skills:Deep understanding of agile methodologies, with experience in leading teams through iterative development cycles.Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges and make sound decisions under pressure.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Mindset:A results-driven leader with a focus on delivering high-quality products on time and within budget.A strong mentor and coach, committed to developing the skills and careers of team members.A proactive and adaptable individual who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.What makes Bondsmith unique:Early-stage startup: You will join an early-stage startup with less than 50 members.
