Engineering Manager / Fleet Engineer Location: South Manchester Contract: Full time 38 hours per week, permanent As an Engineering Manager / Fleet Engineer with Metroline Manchester you'll be on site to manage the Engineering function in the depot and report directly to the Engineering Director.
Yourself and the Engineering dream team will ensure our vehicles are exceptionally well maintained to the standards set by Metroline Manchester, TfGM & DVSA to achieve maximum vehicle efficiency.
You will manage a team of staff including Workshop Managers, skilled and semi-skilled technicians, coachmakers, electricians, cleaners/shunters, clerks, stores personnel and contractors.

Responsibilities Implement and monitor preventive maintenance schedules to reduce vehicle downtime and extend vehicle lifespan.
Ensure all maintenance work is documented accurately and in compliance with legal and company requirements.
Manage and control the engineering team and budget, ensuring that all operations are conducted within the financial parameters set by the company.
Foster a positive and productive working environment, promoting teamwork, development, and continuous improvement.
Ensure that staffing levels are adequate to meet operational demands and arrange for additional resources when required.
Coordinate with suppliers and contractors for the procurement, maintenance, and repair of plant and equipment.
Prepare and present regular reports on vehicle availability, maintenance performance, budget adherence, and H,S&E metrics.
About you Experience within the industry in a similar role is essential Must have a great understanding of the standards required by DVSA, TfGM and the Department of Transport.
Excellent knowledge of mechanical engineering and vehicle maintenance procedures for all types of vehicles operated by the garage is essential Bus bodywork repair/maintenance experience essential Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate and engage a team Flexibility to adjust to ever changing industry demands and resilience to working under pressure.
