Engineering Manager- Draughting & Design We are looking for an ambitious Engineering Manager to oversee and manage the delivery of all Engineering activities within the business, under the direction of our Head of Projects. The role requires a significant focus on project delivery as well as personnel/team development while still being involved in day-to-day engineering activities.
The role is responsible for both the design and draughting teams, with a view of helping to grow, develop and expand the team to support future business goals and objectives.
Main Responsibilities of the Role: Ensuring the Engineering team works in accordance with WESL procedures, policies and standard working practices. Providing technical guidance and support to design and draughting teams, including troubleshooting/project related issues and ensuring compliance with specifications and industry/HSE standards. Actively participating in and completing engineering tasks where necessary (this may include design or draughting activities to support project completion and team efforts). Working with planning and project management teams to identify key work pack deliverables and priorities. Overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of all Engineering deliverables, including managing schedule deliverables, budgets, and resources to assist with successful project delivery. Setting design and draughting budgets to ensure successful project delivery. Ensuring that budgets are reviewed and communicated on a frequent basis. Proactively identifying and managing change to minimize impact on delivery programme and budget. Leading and mentoring a team of engineers, draughtsmen, and technical apprentices, including recruiting, training, and developing staff, as well as creating a collaborative and productive work environment. Assisting in setting team goals and objectives and conducting performance and development reviews with your direct reports. Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients to understand their needs, expectations, and potential future scopes, ensuring that client requirements are met throughout project delivery. Assisting in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities with existing and potential clients. Developing proposals, providing budgets/estimates, and involvement in negotiations. Monitoring and maintaining engineering-related processes within the business to ensure alignment with current standards and industry best practices. Role Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and membership of a recognized Engineering Institution. Proven knowledge and experience in delivering large engineering scopes. Previous experience in an engineering management role. Due to the nature of the projects undertaken, applications are only open to UK nationals. The successful applicant will undertake BPSS and potentially SC clearance. Hours of Work Monday – Thursday (Core Hours 0900 – 1700 hrs)
Friday – 0900 – 1600 hrs
