Our team produce a wide range of high-performance electrical solutions, to support the growth of renewable energy, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of the future of energy revolution Job Description We are seeking an Engineering Leader to manage and ensure the efficient operation of our engineering department.
You will lead a cross-functional team in the design and development of rotating machines for Marine and Industrial applications.
Your responsibilities will include ensuring on-time delivery of engineering packages, maintaining quality and budget, and aligning projects with technical and commercial constraints.
Key Responsibilities: Provide leadership and technical direction to the engineering disciplines for our Rotating Machines projects from proposal to completion.
Manage a cross-functional engineering team and execute complex projects.
Ensure the team develops and monitors project schedules and budgets, tracks and prioritises resolutions and critical technical issues, and manages reports that integrate both customer and internal engineering schedules.
Develop and maintain project execution processes and preparing comprehensive proposals, conducting project kick-off, schedule reviews, regular project team meetings, lessons learned, design freeze, customer design and project reviews, as-builts, and ensures adherence to all ISO-procedures and work instructions.
Lead technical risk assessments and apply mitigation measures.
Oversee the machine test department and the upgrade/maintenance of the test facilities.
Lead your team to develop product strategies and minimize post-design changes.
Manage the engineering budget and headcount, recruiting top talent.
Develop the team's capability through assignment, education, training and mentoring.
Support purchasing and interface with systems teams for test procedures.
Lead customer conversations on field issues and technical matters.
Implement a lean approach in all the engineering and test processes, through elimination of waste and instilling a robust root cause and prevention culture.
Qualifications/Requirements: Degree or higher in a relevant Engineering discipline or exceptional relevant experience.
Proven ability to lead a multi-disciplined engineering team.
Strong commitment to engineering quality and improvement.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Commercial and contractual awareness.
Sound understanding of new product introduction process, and the engineering design process from tendering to service.
Lean mindset with a focus on reducing waste and improving customer value.
Desired Characteristics: Experience in rotating machines applications, project engineering, packaging and modularization of mechanical equipment, and power industry.
Expertise in synchronous machines and understanding of military application requirements.
Understanding of shock, noise and vibration which are key for military applications Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects.

Willingness to travel within the UK, EU, and occasionally inter-continentally.
Sole UK Nationality would be beneficial, allowing unrestricted access to all GE PC projects.
