We are assisting an exciting electronics and software-focused manufacturing business in their search for an Engineering Director to manage the design and development activity of a large team of design engineers!

To be successful in this role, it is necessary to have at least 15 years of experience in design engineering coupled with at least 5 years of experience in a senior/principal design engineer role taking the lead on the design of complex designs utilized within the electronics industry.

You will need to be a well-educated, highly technical, and analytical engineer with a design engineering background to assist your team when solving technical problems.

Additionally, this role offers the opportunity to manage a large and diverse multi-disciplined engineering team, so good people management skills are essential.
You need to have managed a team of at least ten engineers focused on electronics and software development in a recent role.

Your Role and Responsibilities: Oversee the design of new products and plan the engineering resources required for new projects as needed by the business.
Direct engineering resources to produce new designs for a varied customer base.
Liaise internally with sales, quality, production, and operations, and externally with key customers as part of the senior leadership team to ensure the timely and cost-effective completion of design and development projects.
Handle multiple design projects to meet company deadlines and prioritize engineering resources.
Utilize commercial acumen to facilitate involvement in bids and tenders, playing a key role in setting strategy for the company.
Your Skills and Abilities: Degree in Design/Engineering or equivalent (as a minimum) in Electronics/Electrical Engineering.
Minimum of 10 years of industrial experience in a design engineering role.
Highly technical engineer with an innovative approach to design.
Good working knowledge of electronics incorporating Embedded Software.
Experience in feasibility studies, advising commercial teams, and adding technical expertise to the sales function.
