Hywel Dda University Health Board has an exciting opportunity as an Engagement Officer, with a focus on Ceredigion, as well as health board wide projects.We are looking for someone who has the energy, enthusiasm and commitment to engagement.
The role requires an experienced and competent professional with a developed skill set in engagement and consultation.
The individual will be able to provide professional advice to managers, clinicians and other staff on a broad range of engagement issues.This individual will plan and deliver engagement activities to provide a responsive service to staff and external stakeholders.
This role involves working autonomously and prioritising your workload to ensure that all urgent matters are actioned.A flexible approach to work is necessary and the post holder will be required to attend meetings outside of normal working hours when necessary.
Main duties of the job The post holder will work as part of a small team of committed, enthusiastic professionals and will require the post holder to act with a degree of autonomy to:- play a key role in providing practical support and expertise around engagement on behalf of the department.- support the Engagement Manager and wider team in taking forward consultation and engagement exercises as part of the Health Board's health and care strategy and plans.- co-ordinate engagement activity across local communities, with a focus on Ceredigion.- deliver engagement with staff across the organisation; support and co-ordinate elements of the programme of continuous engagement on areas within their portfolio; which will provide the public with a range of ways of using their voice and getting involved in their NHS.- assist the implementation of innovative participatory engagement approaches making full use of traditional and new methods of engagement and involvement to engage staff, stakeholders, media and the public to build public confidence in the organisation and involve them in designing services and strategies.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
About us Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties.
Our 12,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services to almost 400,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales.
We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through: Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest.
Five community hospitals: Amman Valley Hospital and Llandovery Hospital in Carmarthenshire, Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire.
Two integrated care centres (Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion).
Community facilities, including: 48 General Practices (GP surgeries), 49 Dental Practices, 98 Community Pharmacies (chemists), 44 General Ophthalmic Practices (including eye health and low vision services), 38 sites providing mental health and learning disability services, care within your own homes Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Person Specification Qualifications & Knowledge Essential Educated to degree level or equivalent standard of professional qualification or equivalent level of work experience Knowledge and experience of engagement Up to date understanding of the engagement agenda and the current issues facing the NHS in Wales Demonstrable CPD Desirable Qualification or evidence of a high literacy and capability of using IT systems Working knowledge of database management Understanding the issues of people with protected characteristics and other vulnerable groups Understanding of other language and accessibility requirements Experience Essential Experience of working in partnership with colleagues across the statutory sector, third sector and private sector Experience of working in an engagement related role Experience of dealing with a diverse range of people, from directors to clinicians, to stakeholders to patients and members of the public Experience of using engagement techniques Experience of managing projects Ability to prioritise work and deliver to deadlines Demonstrate high degree of accuracy with data management Desirable Experience of identifying training needs and delivering training Other Essential Ability to be flexible to meet the needs of the service.
There will be a requirement to work outside of normal working hours During consultation/ engagement periods there is a requirement to travel to attend meetings and events across the health board area of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.
These meetings and events can take place in rural areas at unsociable hours.
Ability to transport display equipment and documentation (at times large and heavy) to events, and set up the venue or stands at engagement events.
