Our customer, a global IT company is looking for a Commercial Lawyer with experience in electricity agreement negotiations.
Role Overview Contract Duration : 6 months This role requires to work with multiple teams, with mid-level technical Project Managers who work with electricity utilities and other suppliers to meet Datacenter energy needs in the EMEA region, and with local law firms who provide specialized regulatory advice.
Project Description Customer's datacenters sites concentrate a large number of computer servers into large facilities that serve thousands of customers, across businesses, governments, and households.
Because of the aggregation of compute, the datacenters can draw electricity equivalent to large industrial facilities, typically ranging from 10s to 100s of MW.
This role requires solid experience with electricity infrastructure transactions supporting large customers of electricity in the EU or the UK.
The role will require analysis and negotiation of: (a) electricity connection agreements under which utilities build new infrastructure to serve datacenters, (b) related market-specific agreements such as electricity infrastructure management agreements, (c) electricity supply agreements, and (d) consultant agreements.
The role requires independent client management, law firm management, a high level of integrity, and alignment with the company's culture and values.
Qualifications At least 5 years of experience as an attorney is required.
Solid experience with legal contract drafting, negotiating contracts, and EU or UK electricity transactions involving large customers is required.
At least 8 years of experience as an attorney is preferred.
Experience working directly with clients without supervision, either inhouse or on secondment, is preferred.
Experience with instructing and supervising law firms is preferred.
Experience working on energy law across multiple EMEA jurisdictions is preferred.
Experience advising datacenter providers or other large electricity customers on negotiating with utilities is preferred.
At least 5 years of experience practicing at an AmLaw 100 law firm.
